Amber Heard's Lawyers Claim Johnny Depp 'Penetrated Her With A Bottle'

The claim was made in court on Tuesday.

Amber Heard's lawyer has claimed Johnny Depp 'penetrated Amber Heard with an alcohol bottle' during a 'hostage situation' in 2015.

Elaine Bredehoft made the claim, which Depp has furiously denied, in court this week as the former couple's defamation trial gets underway.

"He has her jammed up against the bar. He has hurled bottles and bottles at her," Bredehoft claimed on Tuesday. "He has dragged her across the floor on the broken bottles. He has punched her. He has kicked her. He has told her he's going to fu**ing kill her, and he fu**ing hates her. He's pounding at her, pounding at her. And then, he penetrates her with a liquor bottle."

Depp reportedly shook his head as she spoke, and a spokesperson for the actor has since publicly denied the claims.

"These fictitious claims were never made at the onset of Amber's allegations in 2016, and only advantageously surfaced years later once she was sued for defamation after noting in her op-ed that she was a victim of 'sexual violence'," they said.

"Words are key in a defamation case and conveniently, this allegation only came after that. This follows a pattern of her elaborate, erroneous claims which have continued to change and evolve over time for the purpose of Hollywood shock value of which Amber has mastered and used to exploit a serious social movement."

The actor, 58, is suing Heard, 35, for libel over a 2018 article in The Washington Post.

Depp’s legal team say the article implies Heard was physically and sexually abused by Depp when they were married, although the article does not mention him by name.

Heard's legal team believe she is covered by the first amendment of the US constitution which protects freedom of speech.

Benjamin Rottenborn, representing Heard, said in his opening remarks: “You are being asked to decide a very simple question: were the words used by Amber in the 2018 opinion piece that was published in The Washington Post protected free speech under the first amendment or not?”

Elsewhere in the trial, Depp’s lawyers argued that the allegations by Heard were false and the actress was “preparing to give the performance of a lifetime”.

Camille Vasquez said the actor would “go to his grave knowing that whatever he does there will always be people who believe he abused a woman”.

“Ms Heard took on the role of a lifetime, she couldn’t back down,” she said.

The trial comes after Depp lost a bid to overturn a damning High Court ruling which rejected the actor's claim that The Sun newspaper committed libel when they called him a 'wife-beater' for the alleged abuse against Heard.

Mr Justice Nicol dismissed the Hollywood star's libel claim against News UK, the publisher of The Sun, finding that an April 2018 column calling Depp a "wife beater" was "substantially true".
