We all know social media can be horrible sometimes - but it can also be really, really wholesome.

Take the story of Noah James for example, who was feeling unloved after his mum turned down his wedding invite, only for a TikToker to step up and offer to stand in as his replacement mum.

Noah James shared an emotional video on TikTok after his mum said she wouldn't be attending his wedding.

In the video, he said: "I asked my mom if she wanted to be invited to my wedding next year.

"She said she wasn't sure, but that the 'issue' was solved anyway, as she'll be out of the country the day I get married.

"She'd move mountains for everyone but me, the black sheep. The gay disgrace.

"I feel unloved, unwanted. I feel so sad. All I wanted was her love and support. It's the one thing I'll never get."

Noah added: "My wedding will still be amazing. My fiancée stands beside me through it all. But part of me will always wish my mom loved me as I am."

The video went viral, amassing 1.4 million views, and it caught the attention of a woman called Rosie - better known as @north_omaha_cat_lady to her three million TikTok followers.

Responding to the video, the 56-year-old said: "Where and when? Let me know. We will bring aunties, and uncles, and cousins, and sisters, and brothers, and second cousins thrice removed.

"If your family is not supportive of you, find a new family. I will stand in for your mother. If you don't mind having an old fat mother in a muumuu at your wedding, I will be there.

"I will pay for the plane ticket. I will pay for my lodging and everything. I will walk you down the aisle.

"Let me know. We love you. We support you."

The remarkable reply to the stranger in need has received almost half a million likes - and it wasn't just an empty offer either.

Rosie has stepped up.

The pair have since met up, and far from being strangers, Rosie is now stepping in for his mum on the big day.

"I have a son," Rosie said in a subsequent TikTok update.

"I have a handsome son named Noah who is getting married to the most wonderful person ever named Bat and I could not be happier.

"Noah, this mama is always going to be there for you. I'm proud of you and I'll be there at your wedding."
