Woman texts dead sister's number and receives cruel text back

The grieving woman was devastated to receive the text

A grieving woman was left upset after receiving an 'insensitive' response to a heartfelt message she had sent to her late sister's phone.

TikToker Faith Sidman took to the platform to share her experience after losing her sister two years prior, with a post showing how she continued to text her number as her own way of staying in touch with her loved one.

Faith sent messages saying she wished she could call her sister, and one Saturday sent a message reading: "Thinking about u lots today. I love you."

A couple of weeks later, Faith's sister's name popped up on her phone along with a notification that she had a new message.

However, the message was far from comforting or even sympathetic, reading simply: "You have a wrong number."

Faith sought to explain the situation with a candid response in which she apologised for the texts and explained that she'd lost her sister.

"My sister passed away 2 years ago and I still text her from time to time, I thought the number was out of service, I won't text anymore," she wrote.

The person on the other end of the phone remained blunt even after hearing Faith's story, and rather than offering any condolences they wrote: "This was a business. Please stop texting."

The TikToker tried to find the silver lining in the sad situation, noting 'at least [she] got to see her name pop up on [her] phone one last time'.

Faith quickly received support from fellow TikTok users, with many criticising the business for its cold response.

"You literally said you wouldn’t text anymore.. why is showing empathy so hard for some ppl like how don’t they feel bad about themselves," one person wrote, while another commented: "I’m so sorry to hear about your sister. I think that’s a pretty disgraceful response from that business owner, or any decent human being in general."

A third wrote: "Why would someone be that cold, if they didn’t want you texting why didn’t they just ignore the message and put it on mute."

Some TikTok users defended the business, but Faith later responded to explain that the point of her video wasn't to call out the person on the other end of the line.

She wrote: "Y’all are missing the point of this video. I’m not MAD at the ‘business’. I’m SAD I saw her name pop up on my phone and this was the text, & that I lost my outlet."
