A woman has been making headlines after revealing that her husband pays her to cook and clean.

Ah, a wish that many wives have in their hearts.

Alyssa Dee one day decided to quit her full-time job to become a traditional housewife, also known as a 'tradwife', and now she gets paid for it.

The 29-year-old shared that after meeting her future husband, Tom, 52, when they were both working in the military, she decided to put her career on hold and take care of the home when they got engaged.

Dee wanted to take care of Tom and make sure their home was clean and homely.

Speaking to Truly last year, she explained that she wanted to do this because it felt as though her husband 'wanted her to pay a little bit more attention' to him.

But she’s the one laughing now as she is paid $100 a week for cleaning and cooking each day.

Even though the pair are doing what they feel is best for their family, considering they've since welcomed their first child and are expecting their second, trolls online have had a lot to say about it all.

But she doesn’t care.

Dee shared that’s she’s ‘happy’ and other women should try it out too.

She said: “My husband employs me to take care of the home. It’s the best job I've ever had. I would probably be considered on his bankroll, he pays for my living. I encourage other women to pursue the same dynamic for their future financial success.”

Even though not everyone is onboard with the couple's lifestyle, Dee is adamant that it was all her idea.

Tom added: “I didn't even know I wanted a traditional relationship. Honest to God. Until I got into a relationship with Aly I didn't even know how wonderful having a traditional relationship where there were gender separations was.

“I provide a home, protection, and provision. What I ask for in return is support and a clean house so that I can go out into the world and focus on the external world.”

He shared that initially, he began paying his wife the $100-a-week so she could buy herself 'snacks and coffee'.

He said: “We got rid of all her credit cards, and we opened up new credit cards under my account and so now I can see all of her purchases.

“She really doesn't ask for a whole lot of stuff that she doesn't need, she's pretty financially disciplined.”

While some would think this was a rocky road to live on, Dee enjoys it and likes not having to worry about money.

She said that now he works and she takes care of the home, it’s made her realise how much better it is than having to work an 'actual job' with a boss who 'doesn't care about her'.

She said: “The alternative is going to an actual job with an actual boss. Keep in mind that's a man that doesn't care about you.

“[After] you clock out, you're not on his mind. He would fire you tomorrow, my husband is not going to fire me tomorrow.”

Detailing her life further on her YouTube channel, she hopes to share insights into what it’s like to be a tradwife in 2024.
