It's no secret that things can and do sometimes go wrong when you're on a date, especially in the age of online dating apps.

But now bars many bars are offering a genius solution to people who find themselves in unsafe situations and need to make a discreet exit. Watch below:

It's called an 'Angel Shot', and as its name suggests, it's designed to be an angel if things are going wrong on a date.

The safe word - which is disguised as a humble shot - is currently being promoted on TikTok to spread awareness to anyone who may need it in the future.

Budget Branders reports that angel shots should be ordered when you feel unsafe allowing bar staff to intervene and give you a discreet exit or remove the other person entirely.

Needless to say, social media users are completely onboard with the Angel Shot.

"Every bartender should know," wrote one TikToker.

A second added: "I'm terrified that The bartender won’t know what an Angel shot is."

However, even if the bartender is unaware, you can bring up an Angel Shot on social media under the guise of it being any other drink.

You can then show them the 'ingredients' and they will be able to help you regardless.

An 'Angel Shot' could save you or a friend's life.

Thankfully, the word is very much spreading about Angel Shots, and at the time of writing, the hashtag has 183 million views on TikTok alone.

It's also worth noting that there are a few variations of the Angel Shot too, which could enable you to get the right help faster.

You can order an Angel Shot 'neat or straight up', which means that you need escorted to your transportation home.

It's available 'on ice', which means you'd like the bartender to call you a taxi or an Uber.

If you order an Angel Shot with 'lime or a twist', it means that the bar staff should call the police.

However, it is worth noting that if you live in the UK, there have been other similar campaigns that you can use for the same reason.

One is 'Ask for Angela' which encourages people to ask the bar star for Angela if they feel unsafe in a bar or on a night out.

The Tab also reports that there are also different incarnations of the Angel Shot which serve the same purpose - namely the 'virgin vodka' and a 'tequila vodka.'
