Twins who married twins share update on kids who are genetically identical brothers and cousins

Twins who married twins have shared an update on their kids who are genetically identical brothers and cousins

A pair of twins, who remarkably ended up marrying twin brothers, have shared an update on their kids who are genetically identical brothers and cousins.

Yep, you read that opening line correctly.

Briana and Brittany Salyers, from Virginia, attempted to fall pregnant at the same time and eventually gave birth to children, Jax and Jett, who were born just four months apart.

The women met their now husbands in 2017 at a twin convention, funnily enough.

Even though many were unsure that was even a thing, it was certainly a reality for the twins, as they embarked on a whirlwind romance.

After just six months, the male twins, Josh and Jeremy, proposed to Briana and Brittany at the exact same time.

But after the two little lads entered the world, many could not have predicted how alike they would look.

According to WebMD, the couples' children are 'quaternary twins', which means that they are simultaneously cousins and brothers because they have identical DNA.

When the couples announced their children were genetically identical brothers and cousins, many commenters were left shocked at how 'identical' they looked.

One person said: "Identical twins share the same DNA. When two sets of identical twins marry, it makes their kids genetic sibling."

WebMD states that quaternary twins are extremely rare and that Jax and Jett are still cousins, despite genetically being more like siblings.

Apparently, Brittany, Jett's mum, and wife to Josh, told NBC News that quaternary babies are so rare that there are just 300 known cases in the world.

Now, the couples have provided an update on the cousins on the Instagram account they share together.

The cousins certainly look more like brothers.

In a recent post, Jax and Jett are certainly in the preschool period as they sit on the bed together eating fruit.

They are both wearing the same outfit in a blue shirt with flamingos on and some grey shorts.

While they do look very similar, Jax and Jett actually have different hair colours, so I suppose that is one way to tell them apart.

Nonetheless, the children look very alike, which could lead to many assuming that they are twins rather than cousins.

From another Instagram post, it seems the children aren't the only ones that wear matching clothes, as the parent twins also dress identically.
