Our 'subconscious' brain could be 'trying to tell us' something, after a doctor reveals why your phone never appears in your dreams.

We'e all woken up from a dream that we thought was completely real.

Dreams seem to sometimes have a great way of bringing up all the stuff we push to the back of our minds during the day.

Things you would rather not think about start to creep in - often leaving people completely traumatised.

But there is one thing that we spend a lot of time on during the day, that never seems to pop up while we're asleep.

Despite hours of scrolling, watching, and liking - have you ever seen your phone in a dream?

Dr. Sham Singh (MD), a psychiatrist at WINIT Clinic who takes a holistic approach to mental health, has provided an explanation as to why you perhaps might not have.

Vivid dreams are most likely to occur during REM sleep, when the brain is most active.

The doctor noted that our 'relationship between our consciousness and the use of technology' is completely different to a lot things we experience in life.

She explained: "The phone is a device operated on a conscious level, but it doesn't have any deeper emotional or symbolic charge; thus, it doesn't appear in our dreams. "Moreover, technology develops so fast that our subconscious does not have time to include these devices into the symbolic language characteristic of dreams."

The expert also noted that our phone is 'fundamentally different' from other, more tangible, things that make up our day-to-day life.

The psychiatrist added: "It may not hold deep emotional or psychological significance to be incorporated into your subconscious during dreaming.

"Dreams often reflect our emotions, fears, and desires, so objects that don't evoke strong feelings may be less likely to feature."

Dr. Sham Singh explained that our dreams are less focused on 'superficial' things, and are often consumed by unanswered questions and unsolved problems that we think about subconsciously.

She added: "When we sleep, our minds prioritise deeper emotions and unresolved issues over the superficial.

"So, while our devices consume our daily thoughts, they fade into the background when we dream."

The expert also said that it could be a clever way of our brains teaching us an important lesson.

"It’s like our subconscious is telling us, 'Let’s focus on what truly matters!'"
