An adorable toddler has realised that his birthday is the same as the date he was born in a sweet TikTok video.

An adorable toddler has realised that his birthday is the same as the date he was born in a sweet TikTok video.

The child’s mum posted the video on her TikTok channel, @keepupwithjacob, in which she explained to her young child how his birthday works every year.

Donna Whelan, the child’s mother managed to capture her child Jacob asking: “When was I born, in June?”

“You were born in June,” Jacob’s mum, Whelan confirmed.

He then asked her with a confused expression on his face: “Born in June, the same as my birthday?”

“Yeah! That’s why you have a birthday because that’s when you were born,” she patiently explained.

“I’m gonna have a June birthday every single time… Every single week?”, Jacob added, hoping that he could celebrate his birthday once a week.

“Every year! Your birthday is in June”, Donna repeated, causing the young child to laugh.

Donna then asked her son: “Is it crazy?”

“Yeah!”, he exclaimed.

Whelan often shares cute videos of her child’s antics, from learning phonics to interacting with his little sister.

It turns out that Jacob is not the only youngster who is confused about what exactly having a birthday entails.

A 2017 study at the University of Texas and the Community of Hope in Washington DC found that nearly two in five children aged between three and five believed that birthday parties were linked to the ageing process.

The researchers explained: "Results indicate that young children understand certain important biological aspects of the ageing process but exhibit confusion regarding others, including the causal role of the annual birthday party.”

Wouldn’t it be nice if not having a party meant you didn’t have to grow up?
