A TikTok toilet cleaning hack is dividing the internet, and it's pretty easy to see why.

Look, no one looks forward to cleaning their bathroom, and while we're all for making the horrendous process easier, this hack might take things a step too far.

Some people were so disgusted by the trick that one user said they'd 'no longer [be] friends' with someone who did it.

You can see it for yourself here:

The outrage was sparked when TikTokers Janelle and Kate shared a toilet seat cleaning hack to the video streaming service.

So, what did the hack include? Using a new type of soap? Covering the bathroom in some gimmicky product? Hiring someone else to help out?

Nope. According to Janelle and Kate, all you need to clean your toilet seat is a dishwasher.

Yes, you heard that right, as in the place where your plates, forks, and cups go. We're not sure we want to eat at their house, we would probably use the loo there though.

The content creators' shared the video with the caption 'cleaning hack' and it's safe to say people had some strong reactions.

One user said reacting to the video: "Immediately NO. IMMEDIATELY NO!!!!!!!"

Another was just genuinely concerned: "nah il pass on doin that for sure. wow I hope no one does this... but it is 2022 things have changed so possibility someone has done it gross.. lol. [sic]"

A third added: "This is disgusting & why you can be eating at everyone’s house…."

To be fair, if we saw a loo seat in someone's dishwasher we'd leave their house running.

Another user switched over to Twitter to discuss the strange cleaning hack, directing people there: "You guys are getting rinsed on twitter like the toilet seat."

And, if you thought the reaction on TikTok was strong, wait until you see Twitter, with one user saying: "Putting your toilet seat in the dishwasher is diabolical behavior. Do better."

Another said they wanted to protect all the dishwashers being misused: "If you're one of those people who put their toilet seat in the dishwasher because the internet told you to, send me your address. I'm taking your dishwasher away and giving it to someone who will use it properly."

However, others came to the content creators' defence, saying: "lmao the fact that people don't get that she does this stuff for shock factor and humor."
