Parents divide opinion after taking five-year-old son to Hooters for his birthday

Parents are divided over whether it's appropriate for a young boy to have his fifth birthday party in a Hooters.

Whether you're for or against it, the Hooters staff were making the boy feel very comfortable as the five-year-old is seen smiling from ear-to-ear.

As shown below, several waitresses sing their version of Happy Birthday to a very giddy youngster:

The clip, uploaded by mother Darby, has racked up over seven million views and is captioned: "Shouldn’t have told them it was your birthday buddy 😂 #embarrased #hooters #fyp #happybirthday#MadeWithKeurigContest."

Clearly not everyone found it funny, with one person simply commenting: "NOOOOOOO."

Another added: "Who brings a child to Hooters? I’m not American, and I really don’t understand the whole Hooters thing."

"Why did they go here though?," a third questioned.

Someone else said: "Not American but I swear this ain’t no normal fast food place."

Although the video clearly caused a bit of outrage, not all were against it.

One person commented: "This is great. That kid had an amazing birthday."

"What does it feels like to live my dream," another joked.

Someone else thought: "This is so adorable. A memory he will never forget."

Another added: "That smile on his face is priceless!"

Well, this isn't the first time that the unique restaurant chain has left people divided as they were recently called out for sponsoring a local under-10s team.

Hooters announced a sponsorship deal with football club Burton Joyce on Wednesday (31 August) and it didn’t take long for Twitter to react.

In response to the news, one person wrote: “Why are Hooters sexualising kids and who on earth allowed them?”

Another social media user said: “These lads are under 10. I very much doubt they are aware of the sexual attraction of woman. Wrong on so many levels,” while a third echoed: “Could’ve gone [with a] more appropriate age range.”

“Absolutely disgusting,” a fourth person bluntly tweeted, with a fifth adding: “Definitely not creepy to imply sexuality amongst 9-year-old boys.”

Not everyone was fuming with the sponsorship, as one person commented: "Why are people getting so angry about this?! They’ve obvs never been to Hooters! A great bar, clearly with an excellent marketing plan and supporting a local team where the kids might not get a kit otherwise. People need to chill out and go get a beer in."
