Woman left feeling 'jealous' as fiancé wants to donate sperm to his female best friend

She asked for advice on the unusual and complicated situation

A woman has admitted that she ‘almost feels jealous’ as her fiancé considers being a sperm donor for his female pal.

There’s quite a lot to unpack here, so let’s dive in. Kirsty, 33, appealed for some guidance on the complicated situation, explaining that her ‘future happiness’ is on the line.

Speaking to KISS FM presenters Kyle and Jackie O, Kirsty said that she and her 34-year-old fiancé, James, had been engaged for six months and had plans to start a family of their own one day.

But now a potential spanner had been thrown in the works, after James’ friend Michelle had asked him to consider becoming a sperm donor.

Kirsty said that her other-half was an only child and - as is often the case - was already batting off questions from his folks about when they might get some grandchildren.

Now, Kirsty is concerned that Michelle could ‘steal her thunder’ if she ends up giving birth to James’ first and only child.

She said: “They say it is just sperm but once it becomes a real human how is he going to behave?”

Kirsty said that James isn’t the type of guy to ‘abandon’ his responsibilities so she’s concerned that he won’t be able to detach himself from the child.

“I almost feel jealous,” she admitted.

“When we have kids will they be treated like half siblings, will they meet each other, will they play with each other?

“James doesn't think it is a big deal and would do anything to help a friend. He asked what if it was us in this situation and we needed help to have a baby.”

Kirsty said James and Michelle have explained to her that it would be too expensive and time consuming to go through a sperm bank and that ultimately Michelle ‘wants to do it with him because he is a nice guy’.

Callers soon rang in to offer their thoughts on the situation with one warning: “Don't do it, I have two donor kids and I went through a US donor.

“As soon as the baby is born the heart is involved and donors can't stay away if they are friends with someone.”

And another said: “It will cause problems down the line. He will run back to the kid.”

One other caller even suggested that the friends could be attempting to cover up an infidelity.

“I reckon she is already pregnant - they slept together - so he is trying to make her feel guilty so they can do it now,” he said.

Yikes.
