Couple claim they potty trained their daughter at just two weeks old

This is impressive.

A couple have claimed that they managed to potty train their daughter at just two weeks old.

Parents Montana Lower and Tom Linwood say their daughter Blue hasn't pooed in a nappy since she was two weeks old, explaining they used a technique called 'elimination communication' to teach their little one.

Montana and Tom say that elimination communication is 'listening to your baby for when they want to go to the toilet and taking them before they go in their nappy'.

"You might be wondering why we do EC," said Montana.

"They need to go to the bathroom anyway and it's a lot cleaner if you take them to the toilet."

Tom added: "Empowerment. Your child understands they are heard and their needs are met and it's just a really beautiful thing. That leads to connection as well."

The couple also noted that environmentally as well as financially, they rarely use nappies.

"Babies are born with no preconceived knowledge about how to go to the bathroom, so if we don’t teach them to go in their nappy, then we don’t have to unteach them," says Montana.

"So it makes sense to straight up say we got to the toilet this way."

The family also shared some tips for other parents who are looking to try EC themselves, including choosing the summer months to start.

"Number one try dressing your baby in a dress or something you can take off easily," says Montana.

"It’s much easier to learn how to do EC in summer.

"Another good thing to do is get a potty, we started off with a plastic container.

"This is also really good to put in the boot if your car when you’re out and about so you can pull over at any time and chuck baby on the toilet."

The family even explained that Blue learnt she needed to go to the toilet in the potty in just one day.

The family even explained that Blue learnt she needed to go to the toilet in the potty in just one day.

"We'd recommend setting aside a day. Blue took one day to learn she needed to go to the toilet and then after that it was up to us to read her signs," said Montana.

"It took one day of Tom really committing to taking her all the time, even if it's just a maybe sign because it's never really a definite.

"After that you could tell Blue was like 'I go to the potty now take me to the potty'. Which was really sweet because she was two weeks old then."

According to the NHS, most parents start thinking about potty training when their child is aged between two and two and a half, but there's no perfect time.
