People annoyed after realising not everyone knows what the Canterbury logo actually is

Social media has been on fire since the news broke

Sometimes, brand logos are a little harder to work out than they should be, but the Canterbury one has people up in arms after realising its obvious logo has been misunderstood for decades.

For those of you who don’t know, Canterbury is the highly recognisable sports brand that features a three CCC logo.

If you watch rugby, you’ll see it all over the uniforms.

However, if you really look at the logo, you might not realise that there’s actually animals hidden within the font.

New Zealand netball player Bailey Mes was someone who only noticed it as a teen, saying in an interview ten years ago: “I probably would have been about 19 when my life changed forever.”

But for former All Black Josh Kronfeld, he’d known since he was ‘about 13.’

“Someone pointed out to me,” he said to Rugby Pass.

I mean, it took me a second to work out there were three kiwis when I first looked at the logo, but for some, they have only just found out after decades of looking at it.

Because of this late realisation that the logo contains New Zealand's national bird, people are getting annoyed.

Under an Instagram post of a man named Lucas Rolland finding out the truth of the logo, people were quick to air their puzzlement at others who didn’t immediately see the birds.

One person wrote: “I don’t get it. There’s no possible way people have missed this? They’re right there???? How could anyone not see the kiwis?”

Another asked: “Wait... Was this not always obvious? What's the joke here?”

But for others, they found the whole situation hilarious and started to make jokes to wind them up.

One person said: “Well bugger me dead…”

Another claimed: “This is me. My world has been turned upside down.”

One user had their own idea of what the logo looked like, writing: “You mean it's not three Pac-Men in italics?”

Someone else joked: “wdym it’s not three crab claws.”

Apparently, misconceptions over the Canterbury logo is a common thing as former Canterbury general manager Dwayne Barrie admitted it’s been happening for years.

He shared that ‘at a guess’ around 50 per cent of people can’t see the Kiwis.

Oddly, he even admitted his dad totally missed them too.

"‘Have you ever seen the Kiwis in the Canterbury logos?' Barrie said. “For a grown man like him – he only noticed when he was 50-odd.”

So, don’t feel bad if you miss it.
