Mum reveals surprising role daughter is given for Christmas nativity and people can't believe their eyes

The school described the ridiculous role as 'interactive'

A mum was shocked after it was revealed what 'interactive' role her daughter would be playing in the Christmas nativity.

We've all played a pretty rubbish role in the school nativity - to put it into perspective I was once King Herod's wife, which I'm not completely sure is a conventional part.

But one mum was left speechless when she received an email from her daughter's school, informing her of the questionable part her child would be playing this year.

Because unfortunately, not all of us have the Mary or Joseph star quality.

The email began: "Good afternoon, we have started preparations for out nativity!

"We are all really looking forward to seeing it come together and know your child will be excited too."

We're not totally sure that's true, but we'll let you decide...

It continued: "Your child has been cast as a door."

Thrilling.

"This role will be interactive," it added.

It almost feels like a prank?

And if you were wondering how the mum was supposed to get her hands on the costume of said door, you needn't worry.

The note went on to say: "Please could their costume be brought into school by November 25th.

"Their costumes can be purchased or created at home using things such as cardboard and string to create a sandwich board style door for them to pop over their head."

We're glad they cleared that one up.

The mum added to the post: "This is what happens when our schools are oversubscribed, Education Secretary."

People in the comments were baffled by the unconventional part, as one joked: "Make sure it has a ring camera!"

Very 2024.

Another said: "They have to be kidding right? a door?? how interactive can a door be?"

A third added: "But it's an INTERACTIVE door.

"Please make sure she practices morning, noon and night until the big day."

People also shared the worst parts they had ever been made to play, although I have to admit, nothing comes close to the door.

One person said: "I am crying laughing.

"As someone who was once cast as the pea in Princess and the Pea … I feel your daughter."

Another added: "My brother was the back end of a camel."

The viral post is filled with people wishing the little girl the 'very best' for her iconic performance.

Well, this is one Christmas nativity I'd be up for sitting through, how about you?
