Mum of twins discovers she's pregnant with triplets after trying for one more baby

Mum of twins discovers she's pregnant with triplets after trying for one more baby

The couple are already parents to nine-year-old twins and will welcome triplets later this year

A mum of twins, who had been convinced by her partner to try for one more baby, was shocked to discover that she’s expecting triplets.

Charlotte Boon and her partner, Tyrone Sobers, both 30, are already parents to twin girls Lavae and Lovelle, nine, and in late 2021 started to discuss completing their family by having another baby.

The couple were over the moon when Charlotte discovered she was pregnant in December last year, but Charlotte was left shocked at her six-week scan when the sonographer told her she was carrying triplets.

Despite their initial surprise at the news, the couple say they are now ‘so excited’ to be parents to three newborns.

Charlotte, from Manchester, said: “I went for the scan and the sonographer was giving me the weirdest look.

“Then she said: ‘There’s more than one - there’s actually three'.

“I thought she was lying. I was in shock and told Tyrone over text. He didn’t believe me either.

“We can’t wait now to meet them. We’re so excited.”

Tyrone said: “I was in disbelief when Charlotte said it was three.

“We’re looking forward to it. With the twins we were scared and didn’t know what to expect. It’s going to be a change. It’s a blessing.”

Delighted dad Tyrone had been eager to grow their family and convinced Charlotte to try for another baby in 2021.

Charlotte said: “We needed to get going as the twins are already nine. We weren’t actively trying but thinking - ‘if it happens, it happens'.”

And it did happen, with Charlotte starting to feel sick and develop severe migraines in December.

When her period was three-days late she decided to do a pregnancy test, which came back positive.

“We were so excited, but I didn’t think it would be more than one,” Charlotte said. “I Googled my hormone levels and didn’t think they seemed high.”

A month later, Charlotte went for her scan, leaving Tyrone at home to look after the twins who were unwell at the time - and here she was given the surprising news.

She said: “I was chatting to the sonographer telling her I already had twins. I thought ‘why is she staring at me?’ I was in shock when she told me I was having triplets. I was having a meltdown.”

Charlotte had to break the news to Tyrone over text, who was in such shock he refused to believe her until she sent him a snap of the scan to prove it.

She added: “Tyrone is so excited. He can’t wait.

“I’ll have had five babies in two pregnancies. It’s crazy.”
