Mum divides opinion after feeding six-month-old baby rare steak

Some internet users were outraged over the idea of the meal

A mum managed to divide the internet after she revealed her baby was already enjoying chunks of rare steak at just six months old.

Add a couple of decades on to this baby's age and she'd be considered nothing more than a meat-eating food blogger showing off a piece a meat that, to be honest, looks perfectly cooked, if you like your steak rare.

However, it was the fact the person eating the meat had only actually been a person for a matter of months that left some internet users very unhappy.

The baby's steak was still pink in the centre.

Mum Katie has long been open about her child's eating habits, sharing posts online showing the youngster holding chunks of meat and happily munching away.

Children can begin eating solid foods at about six months old, so it's not like Katie was completely defying the norm with her meal of choice, but many internet users criticised her decision to give her child pieces of steak.

One viewer went as far as accusing Katie that she didn't 'love' her child and encouraged her to 'go vegan', while another, who obviously isn't much of a steak eater, responded: "It’s not even cooked fully, it’s still pink."

"It’s not well cooked for the baby & giving him a big piece like is a chocking [sic] hazard. This is not safe. Just cook well and cut into small pieces," another responded.

Katie wasn't phased by the responses, and made clear she wasn't going to change her habits as she continued to share posts of her child eating meat.

Alongside one of the posts, she wrote: "people loooove giving parenting advice to people who didn’t ask [sic]."

Though she has received a lot of backlash, there looks to be more internet users who have stood up for the mum, arguing that people parent in different ways and even expressing jealousy over the youngster's meal.

"Real kid. Real food. Smart mom. I applaud this," wrote one approving user, as another commented: "Looks like plenty of good protein to me! You go girl! Feed that baby."

Other users made clear Katie wasn't alone in her decision to give meat to the child, with one saying their children 'twin boys loved all food even sushi'.

Another added: "Both my kiddos loved steak at that age too! Good job mama!"

Katie has recently welcomed her second child into the world, and though they really might be too young for steak, I'm sure it won't be long before they get their first taste - whether people like it or not.
