Mum left shocked and embarrassed after being banned from restaurant due to her 'messy' children

Mum left shocked and embarrassed after being banned from restaurant due to her 'messy' children

The restaurant said that they 'reserve the right to refuse service to anyone'

A mum has been left red-faced after a local Tex-Mex restaurant denied service to her and her family because of her 'messy children'.

Selena Palomares, from Seguin, Texas, explained that her family had been going the eatery for over 15 years but everything changed upon her last visit.

Taco Tejano claims on its Facebook page to have the 'best tacos in town' but reportedly turned Selena, her mum and her two children away when they tried to visit earlier this month, local newspaper My San Antonio reports.

The shocked mum took to social media to share her experience.

Selena's explained that her mother entered the restaurant first and was busy prepping the table with high chairs but as she and her children were about to enter, her mum came out and told her they weren't welcome.

Selena's social media post states: “I have my two children in my hands and that’s when (my mum) pulls me to the side and she’s like, ‘They said that we couldn’t go inside and eat there because the kids make a mess and we don’t clean up after them’.

The mum-of-two claimed she couldn't understand the accusation, explaining: “Every time we go out to eat I clean up after my kids, my kids aren’t throwing chairs around, they’re not running around the restaurant or tossing food across the restaurant - that’s not what is happening.”

While all toddlers naturally make a little mess when it comes to mealtimes, Selena was adamant she never left the restaurant messy enough to warrant being banned, though she was allegedly too embarrassed to confront staff and left.

A social media post on the Taco Tejano Facebook page also made her feel like the restaurant was trying to target her family because it seemingly reference the incident as it read: "Get your Taco Tejano T-Shirt (Where kids are not welcomed jk jk) $20."

The restaurant have not directly responded to Selena's claim but did share another post that said: "We hate to have to make a post like this, but there are a few things we feel the need to clear up.

"1. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.

"2. We will not haggle on our prices. The prices are clearly posted on the menu.

"3. We try to quickly and efficiently remedy any mistakes we may make on your orders, but lying to get free or discounted items won’t be tolerated. We’re honest, hard working people & would appreciate honesty in return.

"4. Disrespecting my employees is not tolerated. Any issue you may have can be discussed with the owners.

"5. Any past employees are no longer working for us for a reason!"

Customers' responses were mixed with some supporting the restaurant saying: "Sounds like it was a mess, poorly behaved kids, and disrespectful adults… 3 strikes- you’re out!"

Others firmly took the side of the mum and her kids, with one person writing: "How much mess can a 2 and 3 year old make with possibly one taco or rice and beans?

"What the guest are to get brooms and mops after they eat because of the mess?

"That’s their job with in the restaurant business. There has to be more to this story why they were refused service."
