In news that is guaranteed to put a smile on your face, a lawyer was forced to tell a judge "I am not a cat" after struggling to remove a kitten filter from his Zoom call.

Texas lawyer, Rod Ponton, was appearing in front of Judge Roy Ferguson in a virtual court case, but popped up on the call as a cat.

It's believed his child used the computer previously and had changed the settings on his Zoom. You can watch the hilarious clip below:

A few seconds into the hearing, and Judge Ferguson pointed out to Rod that he seemed to have a feline filter over his face.

"Mr Ponton I believe you have a filter turned on in the video settings, you might want to er," he said.

"It is a filter, I don't know how to remove it, I've got my assistant here she's trying to but er, I'm prepared to go forward with it. I'm here live, I'm not a cat," Rod replied.

Judge Ferguson went on to point out that he could see Rod was in fact not a cat, before advising him on how to remove the kitten face.

We cannot stop laughing!

And neither could the other participant on the call, who started giggling at the debacle.

Judge Ferguson laster posted about the events on Twitter, warning others who may have kids using their computers.

"If a child used your computer, before you join a virtual hearing check the Zoom Video Options to be sure filters are off. This kitten just made a formal announcement on a case," he wrote.

"It is crucial to me that this not be couched as poking fun at or belittling the lawyer, but noting that it goes hand-in-hand with the legal community's effort to continue representing their clients in these challenging times, and at the incredible professionalism and dignity displayed by all involved.

Other people on the call had a giggle at the events (

"Texas judges have now held over a million virtual hearings, so you can imagine that we've seen it all. It just exemplifies what we're all living with, you have to roll with the punches.

"Obviously it was amusing but if you watch carefully you'll see that everyone was extremely professional. Everyone involved handled it with dignity, and the filtered lawyer showed incredible grace. True professionalism all around!"

Well done for handling it so well, guys!
