Have you ever come across a green puppy?! No, us neither.

Well, one dog in the Philippines surprised her owner when she gave birth to a bright green puppy last Friday.

Mocha, a five-year-old Aspin, gave birth to a litter of four adorable pups last week. But owner Chola Lacsamana, from San Fernando, couldn't believe her eyes when one of the puppies came out bright green.

While the other pups were brown and white, Chola, 59, at first assumed the pup had somehow been stained from clothing, but was mindblown when she realised she was born with a green hue.

"At first we thought it's just a stain from clothes but it's impossible to think... other puppies don't have colour," she said.

"We were shocked when we saw the puppy coming out green or yellow. But we are not worried as we have read about a green puppy in Italy."

Chola has named the pup Wasabi, meanwhile Mocha is very protective over her unique newborn.

"When I try to hold her, she doesn't let me do that...she doesn't want me to hold her. The puppy is doing fine," added Chola.

It's believed the strange green colouring is a result of meconium - a pup's first faeces in the mother's womb. It's believed a pigment in the meconium can stain the dog's fur, but it should slowly wear off, as Mocha cleans her little pup.

Chola says that while people have told her not to worry, explaining Wasabi will turn to a normal colour eventually, she says she wants her to remain the bright and beautiful green she is now.

"I hope it never turns to normal colour," she said. "I want her to remain yellow green because it is very rare."

Awww. Congratulations to Mocha and Chola - these pups are way too cute.
