People are just realising Ring doorbells have special Christmas feature

There's a load of Christmassy sounds to choose from

From shop front displays and hot drinks to jumpers and TV adverts - absolutely everything seems to be getting the Christmas treatment now that we're less than a month away from the big day.

However, not many people realise that the festive themes don't stop there as even our Ring doorbells have a special Crimbo feature.

Any owner of a high-tech Ring doorbell will be chuffed to find out the news revealed by one TikToker who has shared the wide range of Christmassy sounds your doorbell can make and explained exactly how to access them. Check it out:

Not only can you opt for a seasonal ringtone, but you can even add festive messages wishing guests Merry Christmas as they wait on your doorstep.

With a handful of Christmas-themed ringtones, anyone with a Ring doorbell is spoilt for choice when it comes to seasonal jingles.

From 'Festive Ding Dong' to 'Holiday Jingle' and 'Holiday Ding Dong', there’s a handful of fun choices, although you’ll need a Ring Chime device to select one.

Once you have the app, selecting your new jingle is super easy, simply open the interface, click on the three lines located on the left hand side, choose ‘devices’, hit ‘chime’, then go to ‘audio settings’ and select ‘chime tones’.

Once you’re there, you should see the new Christmas tones, then all you need to do is pick one and hit save.

Sharing the instructions on TikTok, user @harmontrips2018’s followers were more than impressed by Ring’s update.

One person commented beneath their post: “Omg this is amazing,” while another added: “I had no idea! I just changed it.”

While we’re on the festive advice front, anyone who has yet to put up their Christmas tree should take note of this tidbit.

Celebrity horticulturalist Monty Don revealed the one place you should never put your Christmas tree, writing on his blog: “NEVER place your Christmas tree by a radiator. It will respond by immediately shedding its needles.”

And that’s not the only snippet of advice Monty offered. When it comes to choosing your tree, the BBC star added: “Get one with roots if possible, even if you are not intending to plant it.

“Pot it into as large a container as you have and fill this with sharp sand or compost. Sand is perfectly good for the few weeks it will be indoors. Water it and keep the sand moist.”

What else can you do to keep your tree in tip-top shape? Be sure to water it.

“Buy a tree holder for a cut stump with a reservoir and keep it topped up with water,” he said, adding: “Treat it like a cut flower. This will do more than anything to stop it shedding its needles.”

But, in case you wanted to know, Monty also revealed the spot in your home that Christmas trees are best suited to, penning: “Keep it as cool as possible. All these evergreen firs have adapted to cope with cold winter weather and will react to central heating heat by dropping their leaves in order to conserve moisture. A draughty hallway is ideal.”
