Whilst nobody wants to think about the dangers of travelling, there will always be potential hazards that may ruin your trip.

Safety should always be a priority, so a flight attendent has shared via TikTok some precautions she takes when traveling alone.

Should the rare incident ever occur, a flight attendant has shared her unique but valuable trick for checking to see if anyone is lurking in your room upon arrival.

Taking a water bottle, if you roll it underneath your hotel bed and check to see it rolls out the other side then you can be sure if there's anything or anyone blocking it.

She explained on TikTok that the most effective way to "check that no one is under the bed without looking" is by tossing the bottle of water and the theory is that if the bottle doesn't roll out the other side, it shows someone might be concealed there.

If you don't have a water bottle then, technically, you could use anything to roll underneath, including a drinks can from the minibar or even one of the complimentary small toiletries bottles you get offered.

While it might seem extreme, if you're a solo traveller then it's worth doing a full safety check of your room just to be sure and to make sure you're totally alone.

Another savvy hack from a flight attendant includes using your luggage to ensure nobody can open the door at night. Flight attendant Nassim told the Express how positioning her suitcase by the door, means you would be alerted if someone tried to open the door and even the noise might frighten away anyone who is trying to enter.

Whilst your suitcase can be helpful for this, any large or heavy item would do, including a chair. He also warns about thoroughly checking your room when you enter to ensure it's just you that's in it.

Nassim's trick isn't just a hack she uses for safety, but actually comes from a chilling moment a fellow flight attendant was attacked in her hotel room by someone who had been hiding in the wardrobe because she "did not check properly" and now Nassim checks every time.

She explained: "They got attacked so every time I got to a hotel room I would use my luggage case to keep the hotel door open. I then go inside and check everywhere.

"I would check the bathroom, under the bed, inside the wardrobes, under the table and behind the curtains to make sure that no one was in there. I would never ever enter a room without doing that."

It's better to be safe than sorry, I guess.
