A homeowner claimed to find a letter from serial killer John Wayne Gacy in their basement.

A recently resurfaced Reddit post - originally shared 10 years ago - claims the letter was sent by Gacy from death row.

And people are shook by the chilling note.

It reads: "I have recently read about you in the newspapers and wondered if you might be interested in working on my case, at a point of Post Conviction.

"I have enclosed a clipping on my appeal, and while I feel I have good issues, I don't feel I will get justice in the Illinois Courts, because of public pressure and mass publicity that [surrounds] my case.

"The state appellate defender is handling my appeal at this point, but may not be when I get to Post-Conviction. I was rail roaded to where I am now on death row, not only be incompetent counsel, but by constitutional law, judicial misconduct and prosectutors' misconduct along with procedural errors as well."

The letter then goes on to ask the recipient if he would handle the case.

"Since [you're] as famous as I am infamous, and the years you have behind you, I was [wondering] if you would handle a mass murderer who is not one, but can't seem to get anyone to look at the facts instead of the mass publicity, fantasy and state theories. And now in the court with political pressure.

"If [you're] interested, I would like to hear from you one way or another and maybe be able to fill you in on more of the facts so you would see what I have to work with."

People are shook by the letter, with one person commenting: "It's amazing how arrogant John Wayne Gacy was, even up to the very end. He was a textbook sociopath - every wrong act was justifiable, and the entire world was working against him.

"This is an amazing piece of history you have here. I'd say a museum is a good place for this."

Between 1972 and 1978, Gacy raped and murdered 33 men. This number could potentially be even higher as even fifty years on, investigators still believe there could have been more victims.

A local contractor, and 'clown-for-hire' Gacy became known as 'The Killer Clown' following his arrest.

His job as a local contractor meant that he was able to hire lots of young men - many of the men he hired would later be reported missing by concerned relatives.

However, it wasn't until he was arrested for two sexual assaults that police began investigation Gacy in relation to these disappearances.

Gacy was arrested on December 21, 1978, in 1980 he was convicted of murdering at least 33 people and sentenced to death; he was executed by lethal injection and died in 1994.

A newly released Netflix series delves further into Gacy's psyche. You can catch it on the streaming platform now.
