Labubus are really having a moment right now.

What started off as an initially TikTok-viral internet craze over the latest coveted trinket to own soon became a talking point that sprouted a whole bunch of bizarre conspiracy theories - namely that the furry monster doll toys are 'evil.'

The theory in question has become so rife that some Labubu owners are now resorting to burning their sought-after dolls with one city now officially banning them altogether with authorities citing consumer exploitation and cultural concerns as the primary reasons behind the controversial move.

And now, in the latest update in the saga, one Labubu owner has recalled one particularly eerie situation which left them terrified after a stranger - totally unprovoked - gave them a seriously unsettling warning about their doll.

Taking to Reddit, the individual titled a post uploaded to the 'Labubu' thread: "Stranger warned me that my Labubu is evil?"

They continued: "Today I went to a store with my Labubu on my bag and as I was checking out, one of the workers came up to me and said 'you know those things are really cute, but if you knew what they stood for you’ll no longer want it' and then followed by telling me it was a demon.

"I’ve seen discourse on TikTok about Labubus being demonic but never thought people took that serious enough to approach strangers. Just wanted to share because I thought it was weird and was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience?"

A second replied: "This is so funny, I had the same exact experience in a store. The cashier told me 'they're cute but they're evil look it up' I was like oh well I already have several of them and I love them! People always make sh*t weird smh enjoy your Labubu!!! They are just lil mischievous creatures."

"It’s hilarious how this demon talk is spreading," echoed a third, before sharing: "My mom literally brought it up too! She told me she kept seeing it all over Facebook and Instagram, saying my Ququ might be a demon.

"She even went as far as sprinkling holy water on it and the rest of my Pop Mart figures like she was doing a full exorcism! Now she’s waiting for my Hope to arrive this weekend just so she can bless her too. I don’t know how a tiny, adorable plush could cause so much chaos - if anything, they bring me comfort, not curses lol."

A fourth hit out: "So many jealous people. Just let others like what they like and leave them alone!!"

"It’s always the ppl who can’t get one that have to express their hate," slammed another.

And a final Reddit user declared: "It’s a toy made of plastic and fabric sold by a large corporation. The only 'demonic' thing about them is the people reselling them for ridiculous prices."

Where do you stand on the seriously bizarre, yet undeniably pervasive, demonic Labubu discourse?
