Couple Spend £20k Transforming Old Bread Lorry Into Dream Mobile Home

Couple Spend £20k Transforming Old Bread Lorry Into Dream Mobile Home

A couple who met while doing a ski season in the French Alps have built their dream home - in the back of an old bread lorry.

Martin Hill, 38, and Iona Stewart, 27, spent £20,000 on transforming the old Hovis lorry, which they use to travel around Europe in.

The pair now spend every winter back in the French Alps where they snowboard and live in their bread lorry, as it's cheaper than renting accommodation out there.

Now, the couple plan to use the five-tonne lorry as their home 'full-time' as they travel across Europe, with no plans to settle down any time soon.

Martin has even sold his home and bar in Nottingham in favour of living in the transformed lorry, which took just four months to complete.

He said: "About four years ago after a few too many beers I thought about buying a big American RV.

"We bought the lorry in May this year. We spent four months working on it full-time.

"We are really lucky to not have to work and we did everything ourselves.

The former landlord said he did most of the labouring while Iona, a chef from Scotland, designed the interior.

They picked up the lorry on eBay for just £3,600 and spent £20,000 on renovating the 28 feet box.

Martin and Iona took to Facebook to show of impressive photos of their split-floor kitchen and living area, bedroom and ensuite, and it looks incredible.

The kitchen appears to have all the mod-cons needed for living in the lorry full-time, including an oven and hob and a varnished wood work surface.

A comfy grey sofa completes the living area along with a wood-burning stove preparing them for all weathers.

And just off the living room is a cosy bedroom with a fully fitted wardrobe and space for jackets as well as a storage unit.
