Teacher reveals list of Gen Z slang she’s banned her students from using

The teacher explained exactly why the phrases were so 'forbidden'

Language is an ever-evolving thing and it's clear the newest generation of kids prove that day in, day out with a seemingly forever-expanding dictionary of new phrases they use in everyday life.

However, while such slang works a charm when it comes to social media savviness - it's far less helpful for teachers trying their best to navigate a rowdy class of kids seemingly speaking in a completely different language.

So, one teacher decided to put her foot down and revealed her list of Gen Z and Gen Alpha slang she’s now banned her students from using in class.

Angela Santalo, who goes by the handle @thatpinkscienceteacher online, took to TikTok to share her rundown of phrases that are 'forbidden' in her classroom.

Now, amidst all the chatter and screaming, you can hear the teacher start off with the first word - none other than 'Pookie'.

"The first word that I added is Pookie," she began, explaining: "I added Pookie because I am nobody's Pookie.

"Do not call me Pookie. Stop addressing people as Pookie. You can call me Miss Santalo, Miss Santa, Miss Santi, Miss Barbie. that pink science teacher, you will not call me Pookie."

Next on the forbidden words list was 'bro' which clearly shocked the classroom given their eruption into a chorus of 'NOOO!'.

Explaining her reasoning, Santalo told the class that she wanted them to 'speak like you're more educated'.

Qualifying her statement following the melodrama, the teacher then assured that while the kids could call each other 'bro' - they were never to refer to her by the mode of address.

"Sometimes I know you're used to saying 'bro' to your friends," she admitted before warning the class to not 'get used' to saying it to her.

Speaking in their lingo, Santalo rounded off: "Negative aura. How many aura points did I lose? A lot - you're done."

In typical teacher fashion - she finished the video asking her class: "Guys, did you forget that there's a class right next door?" on account of their seemingly screaming.

She captioned the clip: "Words that are forbidden in my class after hearing them a million times."

The video has since clocked up more than 3.7 million views in the one week since it's been posted with thousands rushing to the comments to share their reactions.

One TikTok user penned: "YES SET THEM BOUNDARIES AND TEACH THEM RESPECT GIRL!"

"This generation of kids are too funny," a second commented, while a third praised: "This s**t is hilarious but also the fact they’re discussing it with you tells me they love you as a teacher lmfao."

A fourth declared: "Tbh I feel like this is actually a skill kids are losing these days; how to speak in a proper and professional manner because everyone else is speaking in a less formal manner as well."

"Honestly I think this is pretty understandable You’re just teaching your students to be more educated," echoed another.

And a final TikTok user pointed out: "You forgot DEMURE."

How times have changed.
