Molly, 21, posted a heartbreaking statement on Instagram today, explaining the couple are looking "for answers" after revealing the puppy, named Mr Chai, had died suddenly after being taken ill.
Molly's statement read: "Tommy and I are utterly heartbroken and shocked to even be writing this.
"Our beautiful new puppy Mr Chai was taken ill in the last few days and tragically has passed away.
"Chai became our whole world in the short time we had him and we couldn't have taken any better care of him. We loved him so much and he brought us more happiness than we can describe.
"We are really hoping we can get some clearer answers in the coming days whilst we wait for details and more information from the veterinary experts.
"Myself and Tommy are completely in shock and truly devastated.
"In a world currently full of tragedy and loss, we understand there are far greater issues than this, we just need to share this information in order to start the process of trying to accept and overcome this awful situation.
"We are asking for some time and respect so that we can come to terms with this immense sadness and loss of our beautiful puppy."
Molly and Tommy, 21 had welcomed the little Pomeranian pup into their family just days ago. Tommy had gifted the pup to Molly for her 21st birthday.
At the time, the couple were criticised after Molly revealed Mr Chai had arrived from overseas.
Explaining why Tommy hadn't presented the pup to Molly on her actual birthday, she said: "He was meant to be here on my birthday btw guys but he's coming from Russia so there was delays etc."
Followers flocked to question why the couple had decided to buy the pooch from Russia, considering the breed is available in the UK.
It's not known for sure if Tommy and Molly rescued the pup from Russia, or if he came from a breeder.
Since Mr Chai arrived last week, the couple have been gushing about the adorable pup on Instagram, with Molly writing on her stories: "Honestly this dog has already brought me more happiness than I can describe and it's only been a day."
We're so saddened by this news and hope Molly and Tommy get the answers they need.
