A couple have been cruelly mocked on TikTok over the name they chose for their baby son.

Mum Erin Elizabeth - aka @wink_and_a_twirl on TikTok - shared a video of their 'name reveal', blowing up three blue balloons and writing each letter of their baby's name on a different balloon.

You can watch the video below:

Although many followers were quick to congratulate the couple, others posted unkind comments.

One wrote: "Van like the shoe?"

While another said: "Like the car."

And another added: "Mini van."

One even commented: "Uh ppl shouldn’t have kids if you can’t have an actual name."

Others were quick to defend the name however, with one person writing: "Such a sweet name, I love it! 💙💙."

While a fourth commented: "My son is Van :) 🥰."

In other baby name news, we told you about the parenting site that listed what it believes are the 100 'worst' names to call your baby.

Website Emma's Diary published the list, which they said was intended to 'be a bit of fun' and included names such as Arabella, Alice, Arthur and Bear.

It also includes a number of names that also mean something else, such as Flora and Chardonnay.

Meanwhile, we told you how millennials have started naming their babies after houseplants.

Parents born between 1981 and 1996 are taking the theme to the extreme, by naming their children after their favourite succulents.

From Lily to Bay, green-inspired names have become even more popular in the past year, with thousands of babies named after flowers or houseplants. Read the full list here.
