People are flooding to social media in mixed opinions over a TikToker's revelation she only showers once or twice a week.

People are flooding to social media with mixed opinions over a TikToker's revelation she only showers once or twice a week.

Catch her explanation here:

Amid a cost of living crisis - and as someone who can never really be bothered to get out of pyjamas anyway - showering less often seems like quite an appealing plan.

However, whether or not I'd limit myself to twice-weekly showers is another question entirely - I certainly don't think my work colleagues would want to sit next to me in the office anymore.

But TikToker Allison McCarthy has revealed she only showers once or twice a week and there's a specific reason why.

Allison joked to her followers she is 'in fact a gross human being'.

She continues: "This is because most girls, when they say that they wash their hair twice a week, they literally mean wash their hair and they shower everyday.

"I only shower, like once or twice a week. I've gone like five days without showering before, because if I'm getting in the shower, I wash my hair.

"Why would I get in the shower and not wash my hair? But I don't want to wash my hair everyday."

Allison revealed she's had to start tactfully saying she 'washes [her] hair twice a week' - supposedly because of the judgement she has faced for actually only showering twice a week.

Despite some of the criticism she has faced for her showing habits, she has received a lot of support from viewers of her video who have flooded to the post to commend the content creator for being so honest.

One user said: "These comments are not it, THIS IS RELATABLE."

"Girl same. these comments are wild. natural body oils is a good thing. y'all showering everyday must be stinky people without it," another wrote.

A third commented: "If I’m not leaving the house u bet I’m not showering everyday."

"Finally someone said it i’m sorry," a final added.

However, others weren't convinced.

One said: "Girl A SHOWER CAP."

A second questioned: "What do u do on ur period ???"

"The comments saying showering is exhausting grab a loofah add some soap and scrub it’s less than 5 mins, without hair washing. laawwddd," another added.

A final resolved: "Why are people acting like the two options is showering everyday or twice a week??? like there is also a healthy middle."

However, not everyone was convinced by Allison's showering routine.

Despite some viewer's disdain, Allison may have a point - as Healthline states a daily shower 'could be bad for your skin'.

They explained: "Some dermatologists only recommend a shower every other day, or two to three times a week.

"Many people hit the shower at least once a day, either in the morning or at night before bed. Depending on the day and your activity level, you might even take two or three showers.

"There’s no arguing the importance of personal hygiene. But while some people take a daily shower, in many cases it doesn’t have to be a part of your daily routine."
