A woman has revealed she hasn’t washed her hair ‘in years’.
Before you react with shock and horror, TikToker Kelsi Giroux shared an incredible alternative to using traditional shampoo and it’s so simple. Watch the video below:
Kelsi uses apple cider vinegar on her hair due to all of its amazing natural benefits.
Usually she mixes the apple cider vinegar with water while in the shower.
She then pours the mixture over her heads and makes sure to rub it in well.
“I love apple cider vinegar because it cleans your hair and scalp but it doesn’t strip it, so my hair doesn’t really get very greasy,” Kelsi explains.
“It actually soothes your scalp and helps to reduce dandruff.
“I find it a lot cheaper and more environmentally friendly,” she says. “This is all compared to regular shampoo and conditioner."
After rubbing and massaging the apple cider vinegar mixture into her locks, she gives it a rinse.
With people constantly searching for beauty and lifestyle hacks on TikTok, Kelsi’s tips were met with lots of questions from curious users.
Some pedantic viewers clarified that Kelsi does in fact wash her hair and that she should have captioned the video stating that she doesn’t.
“How can it smell fresh after using apple cider vinegar?” one person asked, to which another commenter replied: “Add peppermint oil.”
One TikTok user, who has tried a similar method to Kelsi’s, wrote: “Used to use this to strip the chemicals from my daughter’s hair after swim season!”
Another person shared: “In my hippie phase I used to do this all the time, I always smelled like a salad tho [sic].”
While someone else wrote: “I just can’t stand the smell of apple cider.”
Apple cider vinegar is popular for hair rinsing and care. It is made from apples using a fermentation process.
It helps to improve scalp health, strengthen hair and enhance its shine.
Heathline.com suggests using apple cider vinegar after shampooing and conditioning.
The site recommends mixing 2 to 4 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with 16 ounces of water and then working the mixture into your scalp.
After you have let it sit for a couple of minutes, you can then rinse it out.
You can even add some drops of essential oil into the mixture if the smell of apple cider vinegar is too powerful for you.
