Wicked fans are all saying the same thing about Jonathan Bailey’s transformation

People have had a lot to say about Wicked: For Good since it was released in cinemas last week (21 November).

First came a controversial trigger warning about the 'use of spells' in a film about wizards and witches.

Viewers were also left distracted by a divisive costume choice dubbed the 'Wicked sex cardigan' that has since gone viral online.

And, people can't stop talking about Jonathan Bailey's transformation in the new film.

Bailey stars alongside Cynthia Erivo (Elphaba) and Ariana Grande (Glinda) as Fiyero in the second part of the musical film adaptation.

The highly anticipated film follows on from last year's blockbuster Wicked in exploring the early relationship of the future Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good before the events of the Wizard of Oz.

A much darker film than its predecessor, viewers watch Elphaba get demonised by those in Oz and transform into the Wicked Witch Of The West, as she is known in L Frank Baum’s novel.

One of the most eagerly awaited scenes in the new flick sees Elphaba and Fiyero get it on in her cosy treehouse lair while singing the film's sexiest song, 'As Long as You're Mine'.

I mean, who wouldn't want to see the 'Sexiest Man Alive' in a spicy on-screen moment?

But, as well as commenting on how the 37-year-old is living up to the title bestowed on him by PEOPLE, people can't stop drawing comparisons between the star and another actor.

As Fiyero transforms into the Scarecrow towards the end of the film, people can't help but point out that he looks remarkably similar to Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds.

Taking to social media, one fan wrote: "Why does Jonathan Bailey as Scarecrow look like Ryan Reynolds... We need to open an investigation."

Another commented: "Definitely used Ryan Reynolds as a body double."

And a third said: "JUST TELL US THAT IT WAS RYAN REYNOLDS."

Bailey recently spoke to Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet about his transformation into the iconic character.

After being asked whether any CGI was used in the creation of the Scarecrow, he responded: "None of it's CGI. One of the first meetings and conversations I had having been cast was to design up the Scarecrow.

"But it was incredible. We got it down to about four hours every morning and you literally sit there and you're just a canvas for this extraordinary craftsmanship. And I think that's what the film celebrates."
