Now, I'm sure you've seen a load of buzz around Saltburn, which first hit cinemas last month (17 November), starring the likes of Barry Keoghan, Jacob Elordi, Rosamund Pike, Richard E. Grant, Alison Oliver, Archie Madekwe, and Carey Mulligan,

Set in England in 2006, the black comedy psychological drama, which was written, directed, and produced by Emerald Fennell, follows student Oliver (Keoghan) who becomes obsessed with a wealthy fellow student within his college (Elordi), who later invites him to spend the summer at his totally bonkers family's mansion.

The official premise of the film, which has since landed on Amazon Prime last Friday (22 December), reads: "Struggling to find his place at Oxford University, student Oliver Quick (Barry Keoghan) finds himself drawn into the world of the charming and aristocratic Felix Catton (Jacob Elordi), who invites him to Saltburn, his eccentric family’s sprawling estate, for a summer never to be forgotten."

Really taking the whole 'eat the rich' parable to the next level - with a particularly intense certain bathtub scene - it's clear people couldn't wait to deliver their verdicts on the thriller-comedy with many rushing to social media to share their thoughts.

One X, formerly Twitter, user praised the flick as: "Weirdly and disgustingly amazing, acting and dramatic tensions are great, some scenes were definitely weird but Barry Keoghan is brilliant in this."

Looks like a good party, that.

A second rated it 5/5 stars, adding: "A life/game changer! I think imma rewatch it on how a pure, raw, plain mind can be twisted by words. BLISS, BLISS, BLISSFULLY EVIL. How I looooooooooooove it to ended that way. Mwah! Muchas gracias Emerald Fennel!"

"Saltburn truly is the best movie of the year," chimed in a third.

A fourth gushed: "Just finished Saltburn and OH MY GOD??! What a f*cking MOVIE. Now THAT is CINEMA. I’ll give a hot take.. possibly the best movie of the year!

"So much more complex than I initially thought from trailers! Cinematically stunning. Incredible storyline! GREAT acting. Ugh. So good."

Saltburn is currently available to stream on Amazon Prime.

A final viewer echoed: "A perverse character study that enjoys pushing the audience’s buttons past the point of no return. The cast? Unreal. Production? Heavenly. I laughed, I was horrified, but mostly I was just happy to see this kind of big swing taken."
