Huge Friends plot hole about Ross' virginity that fans never noticed

Huge Friends plot hole about Ross' virginity that fans never noticed

David Schwimmer's sitcom character Ross Geller originally claimed he'd lost his virginity to ex-wife Carol

Despite countless Friends fans all over the world professing to have 'encyclopaedic knowledge' of the much-loved 90s sitcom, a batch of viewers have this week been left mind-blown to discover an x-rated plot hole surrounding one of the central six stars.

It turns out that while discussing his sex life with recently-divorced ex-wife Carol Willick during the show's first season, he may have been telling a tiny white lie...

Despite new episodes of the fan-favourite production not having been released since Friends' heartbreaking conclusion back in 2002, fans are still forming theories about the antics of lead characters Rachel Green, Monica Geller, Phoebe Buffay, Chandler Bing, Ross Geller, and Joey Tribbiani.

In the last week alone, viewers coined a conspiracy about what Phoebe's actual job was, after concluding that her trade as a masseuse must have simply been a guise, and it's been revealed that one particular episode once had a UK-ban.

Meanwhile, some fans were blindsided by the news that Joey and Ross actually coined a pretty commonly-used dating term, and others simply couldn't get their heads around a chilling new theory which supposedly explains why the gang went to Central Perk coffee house so much.

Today, however, a new plot hole surrounding Ross Geller's personal life seems to have been opened up by a highly-observant bunch of viewers, who've clearly been watching the 10-series show back.

As any Friends buff will recall, during the first few episodes of the show, loveable palaeontologist Ross, played by David Schwimmer - has recently discovered that his wife Carol Willick is a lesbian, has a brand new lover named Susan, but is pregnant with his child.

In an attempt to cheer him up following the huge life-shattering news, pals Chandler and Joey take him to a hockey game, where - in the hospital after being hit by the puck - Ross recalls the first night he spent with Carol in the bedroom.

"My first time with Carol was... my first time," he admits during the 4th episode.

After a shocked Joey then exclaims, 'What?!', Ross repeats: "It was my... first... time."

"So, in your whole life, you've only been with one...Oh!" Chandler then continues.

In Season 7, however, whilst Ross, his sister Monica and friend Chandler are exposing one another's deepest, darkest secrets, the father-of-two attempts to humiliate the latter by telling the audience: "In college, Chandler got drunk and slept with the lady that cleaned our dorm."

"That was you!" Chandler then tells a visibly shocked Ross, whilst Monica bursts into a fit of laughter.

And apparently, the news has come as quite the shock to many viewers, who've attempted to make sense of the timings.

"Well... maybe Ross and Carol were on a break at one point, and Ross banged the cleaning lady while Carol 'experimented' before getting back with Ross.

It would explain why Ross was so adamant about that detail with Rachel," one penned on Reddit.

"Ross thought he did lose his virginity to carol because he (incorrectly) remembered Chandler as being the one having sex with the cleaning lady," another explained.
