There are a whole number of things for parents to be worried about when it comes to their children.

From choking hazards and health scares to internet safety and how they're doing in school - it's clear most parents and caregivers out there would agree on the biggest causes of concern regarding their little ones.

However, it would appear as if Peppa Pig needs to be added to the list as some Americans have shared their concern over what the kids TV programme is doing to their children’s accents.

Some took to social media to share their gripes as one Reddit user declared: "Peppa Pig is brainwashing my kid.

"Last week my daughter kept calling her swimsuit her 'swimming costume'. I told her that we are American and in this country we say swimsuit.

"Anyone else notice their kids using British or Australian English terms because of Peppa Pig and Bluey?"

A second echoed: "My daughter's obsession with Peppa Pig has led her to speaking Britishisms.

"When the mail comes, she cries 'Look! It's the post!' She loves to play 'football' in the 'garden.'

"When she races she starts with 'Ready, Steady, Go!' She likes to eat 'tom-ah-to' soup. And, of course, she loves jumping in muddy puddles. But that's universal!"

A third quipped: "My 5yo calls the kids in her class the 'children.' And I’ve also heard her say 'swimming costume.'"

"My kids picked up 'Holiday' instead of 'Vacation' and 'ready, steady, go!' instead of 'ready, set, go!'" shared a fourth, while a fifth chimed in: "My kid calls the backyard "the garden" and I honestly think it's adorable."

Another penned: "One of my kids started saying petrol for gas, satnav for the gps, holiday for vacation, and says zeb-ra instead of zee-bra!"

"Yea my kids call pants trousers now thanks to British kids shows, and they call each other cheeky monkeys... I kinda like it lol," beamed a final Reddit user.

Talking of Peppa Pig, it was announced on Tuesday (20 May) that Mummy Pig had given birth to a daughter named Evie.

Incredibly, she gave birth in the exact same spot as Kate Middleton - in the Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital, London.

"I'm feeling fantastic," Mummy Pig told PEOPLE. "I'm so thrilled Evie is finally here, happy and healthy! I won't say it was an easy birth, because I'm not sure such a thing exists - oink!

"But it was all worth it once she was snug and safe in my arms, and the family got to meet her properly."
