Married at First Sight UK is back on TV tonight

Finally... the day has come. Married at First Sight UK is back on Channel 4 this evening.

Married at First Sight UK finally returns to our TV screens this evening (18 September), a series that looks set to have many over us glued to the TV screens for the coming weeks.

This year’s series will be Channel 4’s longest run of the show yet at a mega 36 episodes - clearing my diary as we speak.

And not only is there so much to watch, but, just as we hoped, it’s looking to be pretty dramatic.

In case you have no idea what this brilliant show even is, or perhaps you need a quick MAFS refresher, it essentially is just how the title sounds.

A bunch of single individuals are matched up by experts, meet for the first time on their wedding day and then spend several weeks living their ‘married’ lives together in an experiment.

Meet tennis coach Arthur.

Of course, the three lovely experts Paul C Brunson, Charlene Douglas and Mel Schilling are at hand every step of the way and they know the brides and grooms better than anyone.

Probably better than they think they know themselves, I’d say. So, if Paul warns us about them, we’re definitely listening.

Giving us the lowdown on this year’s series, the expert gives the description: “Strongest personalities that we’ve ever had. The most self-confident cast we’ve ever had.”

And Charlene ‘completely agrees’ with this observation of the 16 brides and grooms.

Fans will know those strong personalities certainly come out to play at the dinner parties as the couples meet up for a get-together and among other things, tea is usually served.

One of the brides, Ella, says of previous casts at their dramatic dinner parties: “They ain’t got a patch on us.”

And one of the grooms, Nathanial even admits now filming is over: “I don’t like people usually, it’s my biggest thing. People annoy me really easily. So yeah, most of the cast annoyed me.”

Meet Porscha.

Another bride Porscha calls the show ‘the most intense social experiment’, as she says: “I think with the diversity of the cast… I feel like you really see those dynamics come to play during the experiment.”

Almost in a warning, she adds: “There were moments it got the best of me I’m not gonna lie - you’re gonna see me wear my heart on my sleeve for sure.”

Nathaniel jokingly advises to ‘watch our eyes’ as he and brides Laura and Porscha had their own little ‘language’ across the room.

We'll definitely be watching your eyes Nathaniel.

“Oh, for sure,” adds Porscha. “There are going to be some memes and soundbites that you will be enjoying.”

It’s not all just throwing glasses and dramatics though, as Charlene also says of this year’s cast: “I think also as well, I'd probably say this is the first year where I felt that all of the individuals really listened to the experts - not saying they didn't before - and really sort of stepped out of their comfort zone to try doing things differently.”

It's for sure going to be one hell of a ride!

Season eight of Married at First Sight kicks off tonight on E4 at 9pm and you can also stream it online. As in previous years, it looks set to air every night Monday to Thursday.
