People are flooding to social media heart-warmed by Jeff Brazier's emotional reaction to his son, Eastenders' Bobby, winning an NTA.

Last night (Tuesday, 5 September) the leading actors of British TV took to the 02 London for 2023's National Television Awards.

One recipient of an award was up-and-coming star Bobby Brazier, who plays the role of Freddie Slater in the iconic BBC soap.

'Enders fans were overjoyed to see the 20-year-old actor rewarded for his delicate portrayal of Freddie, but none were prouder than Bobby's dad, Jeff, who had to be comforted as he grew emotional watching his son's acceptance speech.

In the soap, Bobby's character, Freddie, goes on a journey to find out who his father is which ultimately leads to him discovering he was conceived as a result of his dad, Graham Foster, raping his mum.

The storyline makes for a harrowing watch as viewers see Freddie's world turned upside down and Bobby handles it with the utmost sensitivity, portraying Freddie's turmoil and vulnerability spectacularly - the 'Rising Star' award couldn't be more well deserved.

During his acceptance speech at the ceremony, Bobby wasted no time thanking his dad.

He said: "This has very, very, very little to do with me and everything to do with my dad.

"Over the course of the last 20 years I've consistently heard him say, 'Because I can'. It was a mantra or motto of his. And him just saying that, 'Because I can'. Why not?"

Bobby's speech not only saw him receive raucous applause from the audience, but led to dad Jeff shedding a tear and being comforted by Bobby's co-star Molly Rainford.

Viewers were quick to flock to social media to praise both Bobby for his award, but also Jeff for raising such a 'charming' son.

One X user said: "What a fantastic job you’ve done @JeffBrazier - your boys are an absolute credit to you xxx."

"Whoop! I’m SO chuffed for Bobby. He got my vote! His acceptance speech had me [crying emoji]. I [heart] him. His dad @JeffBrazier and his late Mum (Jade Goody) watching over him, I’m sure they are both SO PROUD! Well done, Bobby #EastEnders."

A third commented: "Bobby Brazier love for his Dad Jeff Brazier... superb heart warming stuff."

And a final resolved: "Wow! Just caught Bobby Brazier on the #NTAs Goosebumps at his speech and on seeing the look of incredible pride on his Dad’s face!! Just lovely! Because I can!"

The actor also credited everyone at Eastenders for their support, being 'merciful' and 'everything' he's needed to help him progress as an actor.
