Harry Potter star Jason Isaacs says he wants to play Hermione in reboot and everyone is making the same point
Harry Potter star Jason Isaacs has joked about how he wants to play Hermione Granger in the reboot - and people have all had the same reaction.
Last year, it was announced that a new spin-off TV series had been confirmed, based on all seven Harry Potter books written by J. K. Rowling.
The HBO series is expected to premiere in 2026 and will be more in depth than the movies.

While the main characters haven't been announced yet, in December, fans caught wind of speculation that I May Destroy You actor Paapa Essiedu is in the running to play Severus Snape - a role previously brought to life by the late Alan Rickman.
Meanwhile, Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod were revealed as the series' writer and director.
"We have 8 hours to tell the first book, so we can dig into the real depths and crevices and how the language of magic can evolve," the pair explained.
They also said that they were in the middle of auditioning the 32,000 children who have applied for the lead roles of Harry, Ron, and Hermoine.
Speaking of Hermione, Isaacs - who played Lucius Malfoy in the movies - told Deadline that he'd quite like to play the witch in the TV show.
"I'm hoping to come back as Hermione," he joked.
"I sent my audition tape in and I've yet to hear."
After watching the interview, many fans all had the same comment about Harry Potter author J. K. Rowling.
Discussing the interview, one person wrote: "JK Rowling will be having none of that."
While another said sarcastically: "I think JK Rowling would be very open to that she’s known for being open to subversions of gender roles and the like."
Rowling has been at the centre of a debate since 2020, when she began a Twitter tirade against transgender activists, most recently praising Trump for his trans policies.
The years that followed saw several cast members publicly distancing themselves from Rowling's views - particularly titular actor Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson.
Isaacs meanwhile, has previously revealed that he didn't actually audition for the role of Lucius originally.
"I didn't audition for Lucius, I auditioned for Gilderoy Lockhart. I was mightily p****d off when they asked me would I mind reading for a different part," he told Digital Spy.
"I was about to go play Captain Hook [in 2003's Peter Pan] and didn't want to do two children's villains. I went back in and read then went home."
