Gogglebox star Stephen Webb has announced he's quit the popular show after a decade on the sofa.

Along with his husband Daniel Lustig-Webb, the fan-favourite couple announced their exit on social media in a statement to their followers.

In a post on Instagram, they told fans: "After careful consideration, Daniel and I have decided we will not be returning for the new series of Gogglebox. We feel the time is right to move on and explore other opportunities."

Continuing, they added: "We would both like to thank Channel 4 and Studio Lambert for letting us be part of this amazing, funny and heartwarming show. We are also extremely thankful to the cast and crew, or Gogglebox family as we call them, and of course the fans, thank you for all of your love and support over the years."

Webb also appeared in a short video with Daniel Lustig, which they dedicated to fans.

Touchingly, they said: "We thought we'd put out this little video especially for fans of the show...just to say thank you for all your love and support over the years.

"It really has meant a lot. And we just wanted to do this video to say thank you to you guys."

Describing their time on the show as an 'absolute ride', they then cheekily joked that fans could find them on Netflix or in the salon if they got 'withdrawal symptoms'.

Understandably, Gogglebox fans are devastated to see Webb exit the show after a decade on our screens.

In the comments, fans reacted to the news and wished the TV stars all the best.

One fan even wrote: "Oh no... ruined my day this... but good luck on your next venture."

"So sad to hear this but good luck with your next adventure," added another.

The announcement comes just days after the series won big at the National Television Awards (NTAs), with Googlebox's official Instagram also leaving a touching comment.

"Thanks for years of laughter and fun wish you and Daniel the best," it added.

In a longer statement, the show went on to explain how Webb had viewers falling off their sofas with his hilarious antics.

It read: "After a brilliant and illustrious time on Gogglebox, Stephen and Daniel have decided that now is the right time to explore life beyond the sofa and leave the show. As one of the original Goggleboxers, Stephen has entertained the nation with his hilarious quips since the show first started in 2013, sharing his opinions on the best and biggest TV events of the last ten years."
