Fans praise Emma Stone for reaction to winning Best Actress at Oscars

Fans praise Emma Stone for reaction to winning Best Actress at Oscars

The Poor Things star bagged the top spot at the 96th Academy Awards

It's been a momentous evening for American actress Emma Stone.

After a long night of triumphant accolades, emotional speeches and stellar performances, it was finally time to reveal the winner of Best Actress at this year's Academy Awards.

Battling it out for the top female prize was Emma Stone - for her performance in Poor Things - as well as Carey Mulligan, Lily Gladstone, Sandra Huller and Annette Bening.

And after a nail-biting few minutes, the moment of truth finally arrived, and 35-year-old Hollywood bombshell Emma was awarded the illustrious Oscar.

Taking to the stage, the visibly shocked actress was not only emotional following the news, but concerned, as her plush green dress had seemingly split as the stood up to receive her trophy.

Mother-of-one Emma admitted to the wardrobe malfunction whilst accepting her trophy.

Spinning around to show off the back of her lavish dress, she teased, "My dress is broken... I think it happened during 'I'm Just Ken'," referencing close friend and Barbie actor Ryan Gosling's rendition from earlier in the evening.

Going on to thank all of her loved ones - as well as praising her fellow nominees - the star became increasingly overwhelmed by her achievement.

Emma heaped praise onto her fellow nominees.

In particular, the actress announced she wished to share the win with The Killers of the Flower Moon star Lily, who would have become the first indigenous-American woman to win the accolade.

Gladstone was widely considered the frontrunner for the award, though the race between her and Stone was pretty much neck and neck throughout awards season.

And fans couldn't help but feel for Emma, later going on to praise her for keeping her cool in the heat of the moment, while remembering to thank those important to her.

"EMMA STONE TRULY THOUGHT LILY GLADSTONE WAS GOING TO WIN THE OSCAR OMG," one penned on social media.

Another added: "Emma Stone’s reaction is so priceless - and then there’s the men who looked like they didn't want the award."

More to come.
