Oscars viewers praise Emily Blunt after she makes hilariously savage dig at Ryan Gosling over Barbie movie

Oscars viewers praise Emily Blunt after she makes hilariously savage dig at Ryan Gosling over Barbie movie

The Hollywood duo got into a heated debate on-stage

It looks as though the 'Barbenheimer' rivalry isn't quite over yet.

The 96th Academy Awards aren't even halfway through yet, and already, we've got Oppenheimer supportive actress Emily Blunt throwing shade at Barbie's lead male actor Ryan Gosling - who is firing shots right back - as the pair honour the Oscar nominations' production teams.

You can watch the skit below:

"I'm just happy that we can finally put this 'Barbenheimer' rivalry behind us," he jibed.

"That's right, here's Ken and Kitty," Emily joked back. "Leaving all that fodder in the dust.

"And the way this award season has turned out? Wasn't much of a rivalry. Just let it go!" she went on.

British The Devil Wears Prada actress Emily wittily accused the American hunk of 'drawing on' his infamous abdominal muscles - which, as Barbie viewers will know, are on FULL display throughout the entire movie.

Then, The Notebook frontman Ryan went on to joke: "I think I know why they called it 'Barbenheimer', instead of 'Oppenbarbie'...

"I think you guys are at the tail end of that because you were riding Barbie's coattails all summer!"

And the interaction has seemingly sent viewers wild...

The pair's movies have gone head-to-head at this year's awards.

"I need to be in a writer’s room with whoever wrote this Ryan Gosling/Emily Blunt bit," one penned on social media.

Another went on: "If Emily Blunt and Ryan Gosling presenting Oscar nominees is a glimpse at The Fall Guy, it’s going to be incredible."

"It takes good writing and good performing to elevate the bits during award shows. Emily Blunt and Ryan Gosling (and whoever wrote it) got it done," penned a third.
