Now, we know there's been a whole bunch of chatter about which character season four will centre around and it seems like we've finally got our answer.

The streaming platform took to social media this afternoon (23 July) to announce the exciting news that the character in question will be none other than fan-favourite, Benedict Bridgerton played by Luke Thompson.

"Benedict Bridgerton has been unmasked as next season's newest suitor," Netflix penned.

"Please scream to celebrate our boy."

Well, it seems fans have clearly obeyed with one X user writing: "Oh juicy news!"

"I will definitely be there," penned a second. "Can’t wait."

A third chimed in: "So excited for Benedict Bridgerton's turn as the newest suitor."

"Have to see this!" quipped a fourth, while someone else piped up: "Screaming! Finally time for Benedict's story."

Another gushed: "He’s already so hot and charming, how can they make him even more desirable, can’t wait!"

And a final X user pleaded: "Screaming yaaaaaay but PLEASE don’t split his season into two."

Well, I guess we'll have to just wait and see.

Bridgerton's showrunner, Jess Brownell, has teased exactly when we can start the countdown for our latest fix of the 'ton.

Opening up about which character the next season will centre around, Jess revealed to The Hollywood Reporter: "I have almost slipped up a couple of times, so keep asking, and maybe I’ll slip up.

"I’m really excited about what we’re writing. We’re toward the end with the writers room season, with the scripts. And I feel like it’s some of my best work and my writers room’s best work. We’ve just really gelled our collaboration, and we’re firing on all cylinders, so I can’t wait for fans to see what we have."

She continued, sharing with fans just how long they'll have to wait for the next season: "We are working to try and put the seasons out more quickly, but they do take eight months to film and then they have to be edited, and then they have to be dubbed into every language.

"And the writing takes a very long time as well, so we’re kind of on a two-year pace, we’re trying to speed up, but somewhere in that range."
