The 2024 series of Big Brother only kicked off a matter of days ago and already, this year's contestants are seemingly so comfortable enough with one another that they've given each other nicknames.

And as a result, many ITV viewers who have only just tuned into the show have been left baffled as to why one member of the line up has been going by the moniker 'Baked Potato' since the reality hit begun.

Big Brother made its return earlier this week, when hosts AJ Odudu and Will Best introducing viewers to a fresh faced batch of contestants.

Amongst them was 29-year-old dental assistant Rosie Williams.

Based in Cornwall but originally from Essex, fans were first introduced to Rosie with a VT, in which she described herself as a 'supportive person'.

Instantly becoming a firm favourite amongst viewers after admitting that she hoped to use the potential prize money to pay for IVF for her close friends.

"I would also like to help people with mental health issues," Rosie added. "I like helping people anyway but if I had money I’d be in a better position to do that.

Her popularity has since continued inside the famous on-screen house, with Rosie having cemented herself firmly with her new co-stars over the last week.

As such, she's even garnered herself a nickname amongst her new pals - 'Baked Potato' - which some fans have been left utterly perplexed by.

"Why is the girl called baked potato on big brother?" one fan penned on social media this week.

Another went on: "The way I want Baked Potato to win just so when people in the future search up the winner of #BBUK 2024 they’ll be so confused why someone called 'Baked Potato' won it"

"i missed the first couple of eps of big brother and cba watching on catch up because i’ll simply not catch up," a third added.

"so can someone tell me why that lassies name is baked potato ??? been losing my mind over it for 23 hours".

If you're amongst those confused, worry not - we're here to fill you in...

Cast your mind all the way to the debut episode, during which the house was divided into either a blue zone or a red zone.

The contestants were able to choose which to be a part of, those in the red zone were later informed that they'd be considered 'non-housemates', who'd be living in 'storage'.

Throughout the duration of the week, the two teams then took on a bunch of challenges in order to avoid the dreaded storage facility.

On Tuesday night's episode (8 October), Rosie went head to head with cast-mate Thomas to take on some rather tricky dares.

Whilst Thomas was dared to wear a bucket on his head, shave part of his eyebrow and wear a rather stinky scarf, Rosie was encouraged to eat a blended cheese sandwich and change her name.

She, therefore, chose the name Baked Potato.
