A suspenseful drama has got everyone online hyped, but they just can’t get past one detail that is too confusing.

This BBC TV show is packed full of mystery, twists and thrilling characters, which is why everyone who watches becomes hooked.

Essentially, it follows the Delaney family, a picture-perfect group whose world turns upside down after the sudden disappearance of Joy, played by Annette Bening.

That’s when her husband Stan (Sam Neill) decides to solve her case, which is where all hell breaks loose.

According to the synopsis, ‘what you don’t know can hurt you’, and according to fans, it’s an accurate statement.

Titled Apples Never Fall, the series has left viewers equally thrilled and confused by what they heard.

It’s all down to the accents.

One fan online said: “A tennis-themed murder mystery... well, that's new. What is with the dodgy camera angles and terrible American accents, though?”

However, that’s where it gets a little tricky.

So, the series is based on a book of the same name by Lianne Moriarty, who also penned Nine Perfect Strangers and Big Little Lies.

It’s also set in Australia in the books, but there’s a stark difference.

The series is filmed in Australia but set in Miami, and the cast are Aussie and are trying to put on an American accent.

I know, it sounds strange, but that’s probably why the accents aren’t what the books lovers expected.

One person online clocked it too and wrote: “It’s filmed in Australia, where I think the book was set? Yet all the kids are American?”

Though, all around, people have loved it.

A fan said: “Just finished Apples Never Fall, I love a good mystery show, wish there was a bigger twist as it was the most generic what happened to Joy.”

“Apple never falls. Ooo loving it. One episode to go,” said another.

Someone else wrote: “Anyone looking for something to watch, I’m one episode in to ‘Apples Never Fall’ on BBC, hooked.”

The BBC’s synopsis of the series reads: “Apples Never Fall centres on the seemingly picture-perfect Delaney family. Former tennis coaches Stan and Joy have sold their successful tennis academy and are ready to start what should be the golden years of their lives.

“While they look forward to spending time with their four adult children, everything changes when a wounded young woman knocks on Joy and Stan's door, bringing the excitement they've been missing. But when Joy suddenly disappears, her children are forced to re-examine their parents' so-called perfect marriage as their family’s darkest secrets begin to surface.”

Thankfully, the entire series is available to watch and stream from BBC iPlayer or Peacock, which you means you can binge every episode until your heart is content.

The lead actor, Neill, has recently updated fans on his health after being diagnosed with angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma in 2022.

Thankfully, as of right now, he’s said he’s ‘hard at work and enjoying life immensely’.
