The gripping thriller follows the story of a former American intelligence specialist, Reality Winner (played by Sweeney), who has been given the longest sentence for the unauthorised release of government information to the media about Russian interference in the 2016 United States elections via an email operation.

And yt's clear people are absolutely loving the nail-bitingly tense whistleblower drama, Reality, with many rushing to social media to share their praise for the film.

Check out the official trailer here:

One X user urged: "If you're looking for something different and refreshing, you've just found it.

"Starring Sydney Sweeney, Reality is a gripping thriller unfolding in real-time and based on very real events."

A second gushed: "Reality. What an extraordinary (true) story, what an extraordinary central performance by Sydney Sweeney. Wow."

"Just watched the film Reality starring Sydney Sweeney. Superb performance, didn't know her before but she was brilliant," a third chimed in.

And on the back of Hollywood producer, Carol Baum, claiming that Sweeney 'isn't pretty' and 'can't act', many came to her defence.

"If you think Sydney Sweeney can't act, please watch Immaculate and Reality. Both super interesting films with brilliant performances by her," wrote one person.

Another hit out: "Anyone saying Sydney Sweeney can't act needs to watch REALITY, stat."

"If you think Sydney Sweeney cant act you need to watch Reality I'm sorry there was no reason for a movie like that to be good and its solely because of her performance," exclaimed a third.

While a fourth said that this was the 'the reality of females these days and how toxic they can be to other females'.

And a final X user echoed: "I don't really understand the hate and weirdness around Sydney Sweeney.

"She is a great actor, period. Really loved her work in Reality (yes, that's the name of the movie) and I was waiting to see her in another starring role and omfg has she knocked it out of the park with this one."

Reality is currently available to stream on Amazon Prime.
