Adele warned Jennifer Lawrence not to star in unbelievable film and now actor has major regrets

Jennifer Lawrence regrets starring in one 2016 film, but she can't say Adele didn't try to warn her

Once upon a time, Adele warned Jennifer Lawrence against starring in a blockbuster film - and now we're wondering if the 'Set Fire to the Rain' singer is some kind of oracle.

16-time Grammy award winner Adele and Hunger Games star Lawrence are pals, and we can only imagine what kind of gossip they share in their spare time.

Well, as it turns out, it's not all about which A-lister kissed what A-lister, as we imagined in our minds.

They also give each other career advice - including which gigs to take... and which not to take.

In the midst of the Hunger Games success, which spanned four films starring Lawrence between the years of 2012 and 2015, the actress received various accolades - including an Academy Award for her role in Silver Linings Playbook.

Though it seems when the franchise ended, the roles became harder to navigate.

Lawrence told the New York Times: "I was like, ‘Oh no, you guys are here because I’m here, and I’m here because you’re here. Wait, who decided that this was a good movie?’”

The interviewer then prompted her if she had any specific roles in mind... and this is where Adele steps in.

Lawrence told the outlet: "Passengers I guess.

“Adele told me not to do it! She was like, ‘I feel like space movies are the new vampire movies'. I should have listened to her.”

It seems like that may well be the case, as the film was panned by critics.

In the film, Lawrence and Chris Pratt play two passengers travelling on a spacecraft which is carrying 5,000 people to a lush planet 120-years-traveling-distance from Earth.

The two are woken up 90 years early from their hibernation period - and they fall in love.

Scott Meslow wrote for GQ: "This is a movie so completely miscalculated that it doesn’t even understand its genre. At heart, this isn’t a sci-fi romance — it’s a sci-fi horror movie."

The budget of the film, as per Box Office Mojo, was $110m - and in that regard, it was a success, bringing in a worldwide total of $303.1m.

Lawrence has since gone on to star in a number of other projects, most recently

appearing in the 2023 romantic comedy No Hard Feelings.

The film was warmly reviewed by critics, scoring 70 percent on aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes.
