World’s richest musician has been revealed and they earn twice as much as Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift may have broken the record for the amount of revenue made in a single tour, but it turns out there's another musician who makes almost twice as much as the 'Cruel Summer' songstress.

The singer's Eras Tour came to a close in December of last year after a whopping 149 shows across five continents, leaving Swifties with fond memories and the 35-year-old in serious need of a break.

The tour, which Swift called 'the adventure of a lifetime' and the 'most thrilling chapter of my entire life to date', is reported to have made more than $2 billion, as per Forbes.

In 2023, the US leg grossed about $1.04 billion and according to figures from October 2024, and the international stops grossed a further $1.15 billion.

And the Guardian further reported that following the tour's last stop in Vancouver, Taylor Swift Touring revealed the revenue was $2,077,618,725 (£1.62bn), beating previous record holder, Elton John and his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour, which lasted from 2018 to 2023.

However, despite her record-breaking earnings, the 'Love Story' singer isn't actually the richest musician in the world.

That title goes to Jay-Z, whose empire is worth a whopping $2 billion, almost double Taylor Swift's reported $1.3 billion net worth.

With the rapper not releasing a new album since 2017, you may be wondering how he does it. The answer: a load of non-music-related ventures.

The 55-year-old has amassed much of his wealth through his own start-ups as well as early investments in companies such as Uber and SpaceX.

And, in 2013, the business mogul started Roc Nation Sports, a sports agency that has since gone on to sign some of the biggest names in American sport, including basketball players Kevin Durant and Jeremy Lin.

It is now ranked as the seventh biggest sports agency in the world with a value of around $200 million.

Beyoncé's husband received another payday in 2021 after selling music streaming service Tidal to a financial tech company for $297 million, and he also had a $200 million contract with Live Nation to promote the entertainment company.

But by far his biggest money-making venture is a boozy one.

In 2006, Jay-Z bought 50 percent of the champagne company Armand de Brignac and acquired the rest eight years later.

Then, LVMH owner Bernard Arnault purchased 50 percent off him in 2021 for a reported $630 million.

And, after he bought shares in luxury cognac business Du'ssé, Bacardi bought his stake for an eye-watering $750 million in 2023.
