Taylor Swift fans think Charli XCX 'diss track' is actually aimed at other A-lister after spotting clue

'Actually Romantic' from Taylor's new album 'The Life of a Showgirl' has drawn in a lot of theories

An intriguing new theory has emerged in the case of Taylor Swift's latest 'diss track', with some fans convinced that the single 'Actually Romantic' is aimed at a reality TV star - not Charli XCX.

The song is one of the 12 that make up the 35-year-old's latest studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, which was released on Friday (3 October), and slams an unnamed woman for her use of drugs, her breaking of girl-code and her obsession with the musician.

Fans were initially convinced that the savage anthem could be aimed at British synth-pop hit-maker Charli XCX, given that she was previously accused of insulting Taylor with her 2024 number 'Sympathy is a Knife', from her Brat album.

The track seemed to reference the American's brief 2023 relationship with The 1975 singer, Matty Healy, singing: "Don’t know if I’m spiralling / One voice tells me that they laugh / George says I’m just paranoid / Don’t wanna see her backstage at my boyfriend’s show / Fingers crossed behind my back / I hope they break up real quick."

For those in need of a reminder, 'George' is Charli's now-husband, George Daniel, The 1975's drummer.

In her new song, Taylor appeared to sing of the Brit: "I heard you call me ‘Boring Barbie’ when the coke’s got you brave / High-fived my ex and then said you’re glad he ghosted me / Wrote me a song saying it makes you sick to see my face."

Since then, however, some ear-pricked fans have turned their attention to another A-list star.

That's right, many Swifties have convinced themselves that 'Actually Romantic' is about Kim Kardashian instead.

But why? Well, for those who haven't heard the single yet, in it, she also sings: "But you keep sending me funny valentines / And I know you think it comes off vicious / But it’s precious, adorable."

This line specifically has been deemed relevant in this new theory, given that Kim actually sent Valentine's gifts to her 'haters' back in 2018, sharing a list of recipients that included Taylor.

"I decided for this Valentine’s Day everyone deserves a Valentine," the mother-of-four wrote at the time. "So, I’m going to send them to my lovers, to my haters, to everyone that I think of because it’s Valentine’s Day after all."

It's probably worth mentioning that Taylor also has long-term beef with Kim's ex-husband Kanye West - but you can read all about that whole fiasco right here.

In 2023, Taylor revealed how her feud with the Kardashian-Wests had affected her, telling Time Magazine: "I was afraid to get on phone calls. I pushed away most people in my life because I didn’t trust anyone anymore. I went down really, really hard."

All this said, however, Charli XCX has since somewhat responded to comments that the song is about her, teasing another single of her own on Twitter in a post that subsequently set tongues wagging all over again.
