S Club 7 said 'door is always open' for Hannah Spearritt despite band being 'ordered not to speak to her'

S Club 7 said 'door is always open' for Hannah Spearritt despite band being 'ordered not to speak to her'

The singer won't be joining her former bandmates on the tour

S Club have said the ‘door is always open’ for Hannah Spearritt amid claims she 'was pushed out' of the reunion tour.

Spearritt, 42, had been set to reunite with her S Club bandmates Paul Cattermole, Tina Barrett, Jon Lee, Bradley McIntosh, Jo O'Meara and Rachel Stevens for a tour later this year - but the band was hit with tragedy in April when Cattermole passed away suddenly aged just 46.

The tragic news rocked the band, and in May, five members of S Club 7 got together to make an announcement.

Lee told fans: "You've probably noticed that there are only five of us here today and, although Hannah will always be part of S Club 7, she won't be joining us on this tour. We wish her all the best for the future."

In an interview on BBC’s The One Show last week, the band said the ‘door was always open’ for Spearritt to make a return.

Host Alex Jones asked: "We can't help but notice of course that Hannah's not here tonight.

"Is she going to come back in the future? What's the plan there? Or is it just too much at the moment?"

Lee said: "The door's always open. I mean we've got lots of stuff coming up after the tour, we've got loads of stuff coming up near the end of this year but there are loads of projects that we're working on for next year as well.

"So you know, she could always pop in and join us maybe for something next year."

However, it's since been reported that Spearritt, who dated Cattermole from 2001 to 2006, only found out that she wouldn’t be included on the tour when the announcement was shared online.

Hannah is devastated," the source told The Sun. “She was pushed out, and doesn’t understand why. The rest of S Club has been told not to contact her.

“The rest of the band signed their contracts to go on tour in the blink of an eye and said, ‘Yes’ to everything.

“For various reasons, Hannah took her time and pushed back on a few details. Suddenly, without her knowledge, S Club’s comeback was launched without her.

“The announcement was made on social media, and she knew nothing about it. It was incredibly hurtful. A ton of lies are being written about poor Hannah, who very much wanted to be part of the tour. But she had issues which needed resolving.

“The rest of the band are not even speaking to her. The truth needs to emerge. It’s outrageous what’s going on. Hannah is going through hell. It’s so sad it had to come to this, and fans will find it unbelievable.”

Agents for the band are said to have 'acknowledged' that Spearritt did not sign the initial contract presented to her for the reunion tour, and claimed Spearritt had not spoken with the band.
