Coachella is upon us, and for those who don’t have a wealth of money to spend to jet over to the US to take part in the annual event, it can be hard to watch all of the videos show up on your feed.

However, apparently, all is not as it seems.

Coachella has given us some great performances in the past, from Selena Gomez’s infamous outfit, to Chase and Status bringing its nostalgic bangers up on stage, and now, Lola Young is letting everyone know just why her song is all over TikTok…it’s an amazing event.

But if you were to look online about it, particularly on influencer pages, you’d see that it looks almost too good to be true.

That’s because it is!

According to a TikToker who chose to go to Coachella in 2022, don’t be fooled into thinking it’s all glamour all the time.

Maddie at @ophisudios explained that she travelled to the US to take part in the event, but soon realised that things had been omitted from influencer pages.

“What’s it like to go to Coachella as a normal non-influencer? That’s what I did,” she said in the video.

She explained that the weekend was ‘definitely a bucket list moment’ and that it ‘was surreal’ and ‘amazing’.

However, there were things that caught her off guard.

She shared: “We had a great time but it is absolutely not as glamorous as all of these influencers, make it out to be. Unless you're a VIP, the experience is pretty humbling.”

So, why was it a ‘humbling’ experience?

According to Maddie, there are some things that you won’t know about unless you go there in person, such as the heat, the cold nights, and the absolute hike you have to do.

Throwing up an image of herself smiling before going to the event, she said: “This is what I wore on day, one cowboy boots, cute outfit, loved her. And because I'd seen a lot of other people going in like, uncomfortable outfits. I thought, 'yeah, I'll be fine'. Little did I know that as soon as you get to the festival, you have to walk for about an hour through the desert, just to get into Coachella.”

She explained that there were even more pains to come after realising that people around her were wearing masks, and as she didn’t know why this would be needed, she opted not to.

Big mistake.

As it turns out, it’s very dusty on that corner of the world, which left Maddie ‘blowing my nose and spitting up black stuff for like a week afterwards’.

Then, despite the taxi Journey from her Airbnb to the festival taking over an hour to drive to what should have been a 10-minute journey, she still had to ‘treck in the blazing heat through the desert’ in her heeled boots, which left her feet in blisters.

Sixteen, to be exact.

Because of her ailing feet, Maddie had to wear Crocs for her entire time at the festival, which is not a great look.

Pair the Crocs with a desert of dust, and you’re in for a wild ride.

Maddie revealed about your shoes: “Just know, by the end of the day, they are going to be covered in dust and dirt and everything.”

Of course, there were other issues, such as it becoming ‘absolutely freezing by the evening’ which left her having to purchase a blanket, which then ‘covered’ up her entire outfit at night.

So, it’s not all glitz and glam at Coachella!
