Those hoping to bag last minute tickets to see global megastar Adele during one of her upcoming Las Vegas residency dates could be left sorely disappointed.

That's because the 'Rolling In The Deep' star has this week been forced to postpone her next ten shows, having contracted a serious illness.

During one of her most recent performances in the Nevada music hotspot, mother-of-one Adele, 35, claimed she'd been suffering with issues surrounding her voice, even going as far as to compare herself to Ursula from Disney's The Little Mermaid.

"In the middle of last night - I'm sure you can hear it in my talking voice and my singing voice a little bit," she told audience members at The Colosseum in Caesar's Palace.

"Your girl was tired. I didn't sleep very well.

"And Ursula from the ocean has come from my chest tonight. I can't hit my headnotes properly. I didn't sleep very well and my chest is on fire... I can tell I'm going to have a coffee in like 10 days, but I'm still here."

Adele has previously suffered severe vocal chord issues in the past.

Towards the end of her show, however, she told attendees that she'd have to go on vocal rest for the time-being, until medics can assess the risk to her vocal chords if she continues singing.

"Straight after this show I am going on voice rest," she joked.

"Can you imagine how hard now me not talking for three days is? So I'm going to be in bed coughing my guts up on complete voice rest.

"And not only is my partner an absolute chatterbox, so is my son. So I am going to have to lock myself in a cupboard or something like that."

The singer has been forced to cancel her next 10 upcoming performances.

Despite her vow to keep pushing along, the Grammy-award winning star announced via social media last night that she's been forced to postpone her next 10 shows.

Taking to Instagram, the chart-topper wrote in a tragic statement: "Sadly I have to take a beat and pause my Las Vegas residency.

"I was sick at the end of the last leg and all the way through my break. The hadn't quite gotten the chance to get back to full health before shows resumed and now I'm sick again and unfortunately, it's all taken a toll on my voice."

The much-loved vocalist went on to insist she had 'no choice' but to rest, 'on doctors orders'.

Adele posted a heartfelt apology on social media.

"The remaining 5 weekends of this leg are being postponed to a later date," she went on. "We are already working out the details and you will be sent the information ASAP."

She confirmed the postponed dates are 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, 23, 29 & 30 March.

Adele - who previously endured surgery on her throat for polyps in 2011, and has since dealt with sporadic vocal cord issues - continued to gush in the caption: "I love you, I'll miss you like mad and I'm sorry for the inconvenience."
