Jack Nicholson’s daughter shared throwback snaps of her famous dad to mark his 89th birthday.
Fans of the iconic Hollywood star were treated with a rare glimpse at his life away from the spotlight when, on Thursday, April 23, his daughter Lorraine Nicholson posted a series of photos on her Instagram Stories.
Lorraine, who celebrated her 36th birthday on April 16, included a picture of Nicholson smoking a cigar from several years ago.
The second picture was of Nicholson clapping and smiling, with legendary singer Joni Mitchell doing the same in the background.

Nicholson is one of Hollywood’s most recognisable and influential actors. He broke out in the 1960s with the film Easy Rider, and in the 1970s he continued building a reputation as a top actor in films like Five Easy Pieces.
He won his first Oscar for One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, and garnered acclaime in The Shining, which is frequently listed as one of the most chilling horror films ever.
He later played the Joker in Batman and starred in A Few Good Men, where the phrase “You can’t handle the truth!” Comes from, As Good as It Gets, and The Departed.
His last film was How Do You Know in 2010 and since then, he’s stepped away from acting.
In September 2013, reports circulated that Jack Nicholson had effectively retired from acting because of memory problems that made it difficult for him to learn lines.

The reports said he was no longer reading or accepting film scripts. Some unnamed sources claimed memory loss was the reason behind his withdrawal.
However, the story was immediately disputed. Close associates and media figures contradicted the claims, saying he was not suffering from dementia or serious memory issues and had not officially retired. They stated he was still capable of reading scripts and could return if the right project came along.
NBC anchor Maria Shriver pushed back against reports, as reported by E! Online, she stated that Nicholson was 'not suffering from any memory-related illness or dementia'.
More recently, Nicholson's future in acting was addressed when his friend Lou Adler was interviewed in a podcast in 2023.
Speaking on the WTF With Marc Maron, the host asked a question about Nicholson.
"A friend of mine wanted to put him in a movie," the podcast host quipped after asking how the actor is doing. "And he had a conversation with him.
"But Jack says, ‘I don’t want to do it.’ He goes, ‘You know what I did today? I sat under a tree and I read a book.’”
"That sounds like Jack," Adler jokingly chipped in.
He added: "He wants to be quiet. He wants to eat what he wants. He wants to live the life he wants."
